      I'm new here... Hi

Hey everyone I was lurking around this place just the other day, because I read up on the website. So, I tried the alarm clock thing many times, it just doesn't work. I can't seem to recall any dreams through this method. Instead, sometimes when I am really tired from school and come back home, I just lie on my bed and sleep for a few hours, then my body would get so cold I would wake up and 10/50 times, I would remember my dream. It's really weird if you ask me, back a few years ago I could recall dreams with NO PROBLEM at all and I didn't even have to try, now my recalling abilities seem to be drying out on me. I have always wanted to try lucid dreaming, but I always thought it took way too much time to learn and wasn't really necessary. Most of my dreams are really weird, some of them more pleasant than others, but now I have realised that we all waste 1/3 of our lives sleeping... So why not make it useful?! I think maybe it's because of all this stress from school or something, but I'm not too sure about that. Well anyway, to those posting a reply to welcome me, Thanks!

      hey hy_side

well, my guess would be school (stress, preoccupied with work, etc.) like you said but im not for certain. keep reading here, start posting/asking memebers questions, and continue building your dream recall (with a dream journal). the longer you sleep, the longer and more vivid your REM cycle becomes, so sleep sleep sleep

Welcome, hy side, to DV! I'm glad you joined us

I know how you feel. School/stress kills recall! Keeping a dream journal really helps because you start to get in the habit of remembering your dreams. I also used to have excellent recall because me and friend of mine used to constantly share our dreams with each other (hence my idea for a dream-partner project in the research forum). Anyway, if you have any questions feel free to ask. That's what we're here for.

      Sweet Lucid Dreams!

Alright that's cool... About sleeping more, do you mean I should sleep about 8 hours before I interrupt myself with my alarm clock?

Look into your waking life with an aura of detachment, sometimes problems in our existence that we ignore can hinder our development.

I became aware only two weeks ago since giving up Tobacco, Weed and Alcohol, that my dreaming life was controlled by the substances, blocking information to my subconscious. All the dreams I seem to have derive from anxieties that I ignored for over a year, if you ask your inner voice to bring all of life’s problems to your attention its easier to sort them out thus relaxing your mind while sleeping and making it 100 times easier to attain Lucidity!

College and Places of work seem to effect most peoples dreams, shame that they hinder our sleep, why do we feel so disconnected from what we do in relation to work and education, that which makes us so un-happy it takes away pleasure from our dreams?

After a longer duration of sleep, wake up for about a half an hour an go back to sleep. -Grat for incubating Lucids. More effort though.

As far as not remembering you dreams as much.
Could you make your place of sleep similar now to what it was back then. Has it changed?

Well, I'm surprised to say right now, that I just woke up a half hour ago from a very long sleep. My alarm clock just woke me up at 7 hours of sleep and I tried remembering my dream but it didn't work so I went back to sleep and woke up again... Still couldn't remember, so then I remember about 10 minutes after I wake up that I have to meet a friend in a bit, THEN all of a sudden... Bam! My whole dream hits me like a hammer. (yeah, my friend was in the dream if you are wondering.)

Oh yeah, I have been sleeping in the same environment for a few years, nothing has really changed. But for some reason, even if I get good sleep on school days, I can't recall dreams that well compared to the weekends or holidays.

This seems to be consistent with a lot of people going to school and people that work a lot. It maybe is peace of mind. Being more relaxed going into sleep.
