What usually happens, is that sometime in your dream you'll randomly do a RC, now it will be really obvious that you're in a dream, as soon as you do the reality check in your dream, you'll become lucid (at least thats how it works for me). Because your dream world is so much unique than your waking world, you'll know that you're dreaming as soon as you do your RC
I haven't really done RC lately, im trying to work on my WILD.
Basically what i did was, i had a watch that beeped every hour, every time it beeped i did a reality check.
I usually examine my hands first, and then looked around, and asked myself.
"Where am I right now?"
"Am I suppose to be here right now?"
"What was i doing 10 mins ago?"
I also slept with my watch next to me. Every now and then i became lucid from the beeping sound alone.
