Hopefully you'll find more purpose to LDing than the movie Avatar.

      Welcome =)

My single goal in Lucid Dreaming is to explore Pandora... though I'm far from there yet.

Lots of people have the same goal, surprisingly.

Needless to say, I am a huge Avatard and I am LDing so I can go to Pandora as well.

Nice to see that I'm not the only Avatard around here... Also bumped into this forum because of the movie, but since i joined, LDing has become much more important for me then a movie.

Avatar goals are very common now...wonder how long until the fad dies out.

I'd say to have patience...in all actuality, your first few lucids are likely to suck. If you stick with it, though, you'll be looking at some pretty darn amazing dreams. I would get the hang of teleporting (of which there are literally thousands of ways of going about). Just make sure that you rationalize your control some way. Instead of just exercising pure willpower, come up with a reason why something must work other than, "because it's a dream, and I can do whatever I want."

And I've also just registered here because of Avatar!

I actually rekindled my interest in Lucid Dreaming and OBE's towards the end of last year but as part of a better effort I'm going start using this forum and hopefully have some enlightening conversations with you great people

On the topic of Avatar, I think it presents a very good example of what kind of mindset you need to Lucid Dream. When he falls asleep, he wakes up into a world that is still real in a physical sense. In order to achieve lucidity, I think you need to attain a strong belief that the dream world is as real as the one you are in now, and although that sounds easy, for most people it isn't. Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoch says it better in his book on dream yoga:

"Normally the dream is thought to be "unreal", as opposed to "real" waking life. But there is nothing more real than dream. This statement only makes sense once it is understood that normal waking life is as unreal as dream, and in exactly the same way."

I should point out that with good (though all short lived) experiences in LD and some experience in OBE, my thoughts are that they are both products of the mind, some people have negative views on that but I can't understand why?

      Good luck to all.

PS. I waited years for that film, it didn't disappoint and I'll watch it again, but not 5 times!

Man I have avatar envy. My wife and I have been trying to get out to the imax to see it, but they keep selling out the theatre by our house.

What a great time for this movie to come out. I have not seen it, but have enough years of LD'ing under my belt to recognize an LD inspired screen play when I see it.

It makes me happy to see people investigating Lucid Dreaming as a result of the movie. For those that are new to this sort of thing, welcome!

I like this post too. I have not seen the movie. I re-kindled my interest last fall reading the novel "Last of the Dream People". Back in 2006 I put together my own access database as my dream journal. I have not had a what I would call a true lucid dream yet, but have come close and am improving my memory of them. Now I have a sort of Precognition dream that concerns me a little. So when he says,... "but this hobbie passes throught time..." I think I might just get it. Oh, I am doing yoga type breathing exercises right before going to bed. Oh, and instead of Avatar, I have been collecting animated movies. Cheers

That's a really good idea! I dreamt I was on Pandora last night, but it wasn't lucid sadly.

Anybody heard of "Avatar blues"? People getting depressed because Pandora isn't a real place they can visit. That is, except in lucid dreams. That could explain the spike. http://www.newsrecord.org/sections/e...dise-1.2134871
It must be truly awesome to have that effect on people. I've never seen it, hoping to soon though!

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

Avatar was a great movie, and I'm glad it's inspiring people to lucid dream. If you want to go, I recommend MILD. I've gone twice this month, and I will be going back again soon! There's just too much to see for one dream.

Wish me luck on getting my next lucid!

      I had avatar pre-obsession and 3 weeks of post-obsession.
Not avatar blues though, my sub-c seems to still be obsessed...
(transforming to avatar as default in LDs)

while i havent had enough time to explore pandora in my LDs but i have wreaked havok in avatar sized nanosuit with killer tail... MAXIMUM SPEED

Ive seen it only once in movies and once as pirate which was poor quality...

I think I need to see this movie again. I wasn't really impressed with the world they created. Maybe I'm jaded, or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.

I loved the movie, but didn't feel as if the world was very unique or novel.
