      My name is the Truthbearer.....

My name is the Truthbearer, and I am new to this forum. I discovered this site while I was trying to gain knowledge about dreams. It caught my attention because of an experience I had long ago, which I still remember, for it left an impression on me. I had a dream which was following the regular caotic order of one, until I decided to see what time it was. I looked at my hand and I had my watch on, a watch that I had just lost 2 days before. So, I stared at it for a moment and I remember thinking I had lost it. It couldn't be right. I am dreaming! That was my conclusion, but as I thought that I guess I decided to wake up, to prove it to myself.

I have already learned about lucid dreaming for a couple weeks now, I started to keep a dream journal, though lazy ass I am I only wrote about 3 entries.

Anyway last night I have what I believe is my first lucid dream, where I kind of took control of my dream. The problem is I don't know if I was really lucid. In the dream I was in weird old house with my parents and some weird things were happening. So, I don't remember why I decided it was a dream, and, my all time favorite dream happening, I started to fly away. Since I learned about lucid dreaming I always made that my first goal, to fly.

Anyway, I remember having problems going higher when I wanted too, and I kept saying I am dreaming, when I said that I momentarily did fly higher. I remembered some things I read and I thought I want to appear over there, in a building that was seemingly very far away. But I didn't, I couldn't. So I started to fly to it. When I got there I reminded my self I was dreaming again, but this time that made me wake up.

My question would be, how do I know if I was really lucid dreaming, and it wasn't just my unconscious' way of justifying my flying in the dream? I have been thinking about lucid dreaming, so that could be posible. Besided I didn't feel in total control of my dream, in fact the only thing that I could do was fly, which is as much as I wanted, but it would still be nice to feel more in control of it all. The way you guys have described it I can create my own universe, do as I please. In this dream I am doubtfull about being lucid, I was just able to bring this ability to a universe pre-established by my unconscious, I couldn't create one at my will. I felt like I wasn't really that lucid but playing along with the chaotic paths of my dreams.

That is my doubt, wheather there is the possiblity I didn't really have a lucid dream, I just thought I did. I do remember saying to myself that I was dreaming but couldn't that just be part of the plot of the dream? Could it be my minds way of justifying what was going on in the dream. I am rather confused about all this. All I can say is that I hope to continue to experience this sort of dreams, and eventhough I may have not been lucid, I still loved being able to fly. Feel free to post any comments or answers you might have.

      Congratulations and Welcome!!!

      *looks around for Lowercase*

I was wondering when you might post.

Bottom line, if you were in the dream and realized you were in the dream, then it was a Lucid dream!

Lucidity is like being awake. Sometimes you are really fuzzy, sometimes you are wired.

The fact that you could fly at will leads me to think that you were pretty lucid. Most people can't control everything all the time.

      Am I making sense?

      Welcome!!

Yes, as seeker said, that was a lucid dream. Dont worry about control. There are different levels of lucidity. Try at first to explore you dream and sometimes go with the flow. See you around...

fine, i'll do my job (only joking!)

      WELCOME!

What you described seems to be what we call a 'low level' lucid dream!

I know how it is, i am sometimes to lazy to get up and write down what happened, but you have to, because you will no longer remember it in the morning, so keep on writing down everything you expirience!
      See ya around...

      Lucid????

First, i'd like to thank Seeker, android 28 and Lowercase society for their responses. You're probably right, that must have been a lucid dream. Although, oddly enough, it didn't feel like one. I guess what I am trying to say is that it wasn't vivid enough to feel lucid. I didn't feel as real as I hoped it did, eventhough the flying feeling was as awesome as everytime I have ever dreamed of flying. I hope to be able to repeat the whole lucid experience in order to convince myself that I really was lucid, and not just playing along with the dream. But you are also right that the more practice I get the more lucid and in control I will become. I soon hope to do several things I have in mind, including more flying, doing some strange stuff like walking through walls, disappearing, visiting exotic places, and most of all fighting agent smith matrix style(hahahah).

Walking through walls is fun. I flew through them one night just for fun. Made it through 5 of them.
Bounced off the 6th and decided to do something different.

Why don't you try to find a mirror some night. Mirrors can be fun *mysterious music*

Some say that if you look into a mirror, you can find clues to your true self.

You can also use them to help develop mew dream forms.

You can see your reflection, walk through them.
Put it on your to do list!

Alot of weird things, Mirrors. Since you've got the avatar of Neo from the Matrix (I think), I'm sure you could imagine what a mirror might do (just watch the movie).

Thanks for your posts and warm welcome

Yeah, I'm gonna have to try that as soon as I can get another lucid dream, I tried to do MILD last night but only slept like 6 hours, so I missed my whole REM period completely. Guess I'll try again tonight.

P.S Thanks for the suggestion Kaniaz, I have seen it.......about 50 times or so. As you guys will discover in upcoming months I am a big matrix enthusiast.

      It is inevitable.....[/b]

I've decided that I've got to relax, and I think "there's going to be a night at the end of each day, and I dont intend on dying anytime soon, so there's still a gazillion chances for me left, dont care if it doesnt work all the time" and hey, whadda ya know! Another dream in full-color and miniature details. (Not lucid though... )
