      Unsucessfully Lucidity, weird experiences instead.

I've been browsing this site for about a week now, and I decided last night I would give lucidity a hard honest try. Before finding this site I was familiar with brainwave entertainment, binaural beats, holosync and programs such as brainwave generator. When looking at this site's tutorials I found this interesting bit of information. http://dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1652. I decided to make that preset, just like Artelis explained. I then put my laptop by the side of my bed (with headphones attached) and I decided I would listen to it last night.

On these forums I hear a lot of talk about people meditating before going to bed and how it helps them with anything from Lucid Dreams to Dream Recall, to OBE"s and AP's. So I played the preset called BUILTIN: Meditation 2 (deep). After about half an hour of listening to it lying down. I still didn't feel that different physically, or spiritually. But I did start hearing some very weird things. I heard a song, it was a little spooky. The song was a bit gothic almost. It was a choir of people, probably at least 5. They were going Oooo-OOO-oooo-OOO. With some kind of mealdie but just 000's in the song. It was kind of freaky, because I don't think I ever heard the song before and the song almost seemed eerie.

So I decided to continue and not be afraid. Which it seems is what a lot of people recommend. Then a heard a laugh, about 4 seconds long, in a corner of my room. I am an only child, so I know it wasn't a sibling playing a joke on me. It was creepy, it was like an evil laugh. I was kinda freaked out, but I remembered not to me scared. And I decided to just stop the meditiation preset there.

Then I ran the Lucid Preset, that I made from Artelis's tutorial. I woke up at 2 because I had to go the bathroom. I went back to sleep and woke up at 6. Anyways, it gets pretty boring from there, but I did not recall one dream at all. Artelis's preset made me not need as much sleep though, I think.

In the morning I went where I heard that laugh, stood there, and said I am not afraid of you. I thought that would be a good idea cause I heard lots of spiritual beings feed off of fear.

Anyways, what happened? Whats up with the singing and the laugh?
Can someone help me get lucid dreams, I am trying without luck. After I get done with lucid dreams, I may even try OBE's or AP if I can convince myself it is completely safe.

      Thanks for the help,
      RTCovenant

P.S. I'm glad I found this site and this is my very first post here.

      Hey RTC,

Yeah, it sounds like you were right there on the fence of dreaming and reality - sleep paralysis just like Alca mentioned.

I had these experiences a few times as well, before I even heard of lucid dreaming (I go into more detail about it in my first post here ).

Anyway, with some control you should be able to slip right into an LD. I would recommend doing a search on WILD on the site. It's related to what you experienced.

      Not sleep paralysys...

Not sleep palysis. Sleep paralysis is just being paralysed whilst sleeping. What you experienced was hypnagogic imagery/sounds. As you fall asleep your mind creates vivid imagery and sounds to 'warm up' before giving a dream. Most people do not notice this stage of falling asleep because they are allready unconcious.

Hypnagogic imagery starts off as a mild pattern (like when you press your fingers on closed eyelids), this is the bit that hypnotises you and renders you unconcious for sleep. After that you get vivid imagery as the dream begins and sounds, and paralysis starts around the same time. If you are still concious (as you were) then you will experience those images and sounds.

It is possible to feel sleep paralysis before the dream starts. It's one of the stages commonly felt during WILD that carries into sleep. Usually those people who experience SP find that it's accompanied by HI, vibrations, sound, etc. Now, not everyone who successfully WILDs will experience all of those things, but it is possible.

(HI) or hynagogic imagery is not just images. The further you go into the realm of HI you can begin to hear sounds and images.

This could also be what you had experianced.
