      LDing = F.A's or Spins

      Hello Dreamviews Community!

      So I've always been interested in lucid dreaming, but lately I've had a real interest in it after a friend told me about a trick to help myself realize I'm in a dream by writing a 'C' on the palm of hand. The C stands for consciousness, and the idea is that whenever I remember its there during the day, I'll look at it (I guess you guys call something like this an 'RC').

      I've tried other techniques in the past, but I've never had results this fast. Within two days I was already reaching lucidity. But here's where the problems come in. I either have a very, very convincing false awakening (down to the point where the C is still on my hand, and my clock is the correct time and it's the correct time of the day for me to wake up) or if I'm already in a dream going on and I have achieved lucidity, I immediately get ripped out of it and end up in my room where everything is spinning out of control. No amount of handchecking or nose pinching solves the problem when this happens. Eventually the chaos is enough to freak me out and I wake up.

      To counteract the false awakenings, I've devised this:

      It's on my wall, and it's basically a reality check that I'm trying to program into my room so that if I do have a F.A, It'll actually prompt me to actively check if it is. The question mark is obviously "am I dreaming?", the N is nose pinch, the L is light check, the C is clock check, and the DS is dream spin (because I want to get the hell out of my room for once). Also, I figured that this is something that even when I'm not in my room, I can draw it out on a piece of paper while at college or something. Problem is, this doesn't solve the spinning problem

      Any ideas?

      That seems like a pretty good plan. Just make sure you perform RCs upon waking from sleep, even if you know you are awake. It won't take long to get into the habit. As for the spinning, if you are the one spinning uncontrollably, just make your way to a solid object and hold on tight. I used to have this problem every now and then, I would grab a tree, dresser, door handle, etc, and brace myself for a few moments. This would stop the spinning.

      If the room is spinning, you could try to stop and clear up the spinning with stabilization techniques (the easiest would be looking at your own feet until everything calms down and then slowly returning your head to normal position). If this doesn't work it may be easier just to bust through the wall, fly out the window, fly out through the ceiling, and get outside of the spinning room. Once you get out of the room, you will be free to explore your dream.

      Haha judging by your icon, you can answer my next question:

      How does going to bed high or smoking in general affect LDing? It seems that when I'm doing either my ability to dream recall is reduced.

      Yeah, it can definately effect recall at times (especially for LDing newbies). Where I have built good recall over the passed year and have smoked regularly for several years, it doesn't really effect my lucid dreaming. Going to bed blazed makes my dreams pretty random and crazy (which I love, lol). You will just have to practice building your recall and I'm sure weed won't get in the way of your LDing. It may be a bit more difficult at first, but after a while your body and mind will adjust.
