      An intro/why I'm here

      Hi, I’m Cambria.

I’ve known about LDing for awhile now. When I was in middle school I found this picture book I had lying on my bookshelf on dreaming (the history, myths, and science of). I don’t remember the title of it but there was a brief description of what a LD was and how to do RCs, and I thought oh cool! I can control my dreams!

So I started developing my ability to LD. At first I couldn’t do much in a LD except wake myself up, but this still came in handy whenever I realized I was in a nightmare, and eventually I managed to get some minor dream control. Making DCs really tall was about the only thing I ever mastered, and I could fly a little but it was like levitating through molasses (not fun) and I was too impatient to perfect it. I really think learning to LD as a kid helped me stop having nightmares (though I suppose it could have just been the age I started), even now I rarely have nightmares and when I do they are more unsettling than they are actually frightening.

After a couple of years, I quit actively practicing and got out of the habit. My dream recall is still generally good but for some reason it’s been down in the last couple of months. I had my recent lack of dream recall on my mind when I, by chance, stumbled on this site; seeing this site made me nostalgic for my sleep experiments from back in the day. I still have moments of Lucidity during my dreams, but it’s rarer now that I’m not doing anything to induce them and I can’t keep the lucidity going for a very long time. In almost all of my dreams I know that nothing can hurt me so I tend to be reckless during non-lucids, but I don’t think this is really lucidity because you can accept the fact that something won’t hurt you in a dream without accepting that something won’t hurt you in a dream because you are dreaming? Does that make sense?

Anyways, after reading these forums for a couple of days I decided to try and get back into LDing and hopefully regain everything I knew and then some. This forum seems like an awesome resource for techniques and for motivation and I can’t wait to interact with people here on the site.

      Welcome Cambria.

Good to hear you want to get back into Lucid Dreaming. I had gotten out of the practice for a few years too. Now I don't ever intend to give it up again.

Good luck with your return to Lucidity. I'm sure you will be back in business in no time.

Hope you plan to start a journal here.

      Thanks for the support.

I'll probably start a Dream Journal here soon.
