      Question First Attempt

Hi all, I'm very new to this and have a few questions to ask. I've been trying to use the WILD technique to achieve an LD, I am able to achieve that whole body buzz/paralysis mode, however i can never get into the next step of actually dreaming. I do WILD right when i go to bed and I can achieve the body sleep and I also try after waking myself up from sleeping. What I'de like to know is, is it really essential to attempt WILD after sleeping for say 5-6 hours or can it be done as soon as you hit the bed? Also, I've tried counting and breathing in order to relax and fall asleep but it never seems to work, I'm always scared to lose focus as I'm falling asleep... Anyways, any advice for this newbie would really be appreciated!

I forgot to mention, I know it's said that DILD is easier to learn but I just can't seem to make it happen. I can usually remember a dream or two when I wake up, and no matter how outrageous they were, I can never make the connection while I'm asleep (for example, last night I dreamed I was shooting zombies in a warehouse... and I STILL didn't make the dream realization). Thats why I prefer trying WILD, I find the DILD technique to be more random/guess work. Please tell me if I'm wrong and again, any advice on this topic would be great!

Well Ult, WILDing after 5-6 hours of sleep is easier than right after going to bed, and DILD is easier than both.

The reason why you it is easier to get a LD after sleeping 5-6 hours is that during a night of sleep, your sleep period goes through phases. Most of the dreaming occurs in a phases that happens only after you're sleeping for some time, and its called REMs. These phases are the best to WILD into, cause really, it's really really hard, not to say impossible, to WILD while out of REM state.

DILD does in fact involves some luck though, but at least you don't have to wake up in the middle of the night. But nothing stops you from trying both, do reality checks whenever possible during the day and try using a alarm to wake you up 90-110 minutes before your regular waking time to try to WILD or WBTB.
