      New Lucid Dreamer

I just joined Dreamviews because it seemed like a supportive site. Hello people!
I really hope my time here will help me become a lucid dreamer.

I have been trying to lucid dream for a while now. I have been using the MILD technique and do quick reality checks every time I go through a doorway (to make them frequent) the last time I lucid dreamed was an accidental DILD.

I noticed myself in my sister's room. It was somewhat blurry and dark. I proboably didn't start the dream here, but it's the point at which I start to remember. I couldn't tell if my dream body was squinting, but I was scared that if I attempted to open my dream body's eyes then I would open my own eyes. I hoped for the worst and spun around, thinking maybe my dreaming was over and attempting to increase it. I then woke up.

Now, I have been trying to MILD for about a week or two to no success. I remember about 9-10 dreams a week, but I have not become lucid after that accidental dream.

Should I change methods if I get no success? I have read about the pros and cons of WILD, but I have not succeeded with it. Any tips on any of my questions?

      Hi, welcome to DV !

Well...if you haven't started a DJ yet, I would do that. Well, you could do RC's randomly. Maybe this isn't true for you, but I don't go through doorways that often in dreams. So, I wouldn't ever RC if I only RC'ed through hallways. Of course, it could be different for you. Keep up with being patient. If you ever get bored of it, the one thing you CANNOT slack on is your DJ. You must remember your dreams to remember potential lucids! With time, you will recognize the "dream aura"-there is a certain feeling in dreams, with time, you may feel that "aura". The more LD's you get, the more you will notice this "aura", and the more likely that more shall follow .

And what if all I end up remembering of dreams are small fragments?

      Oooo!

I SO know how to anwer this.

When I wake up, usually I just remember a small fragment of my dream or the ending. But, I start to think about it more, try to remember more, then I piece it all together, and place them all in order, and re-play the dream in my head. Try that .

      Okay, one more question

Alot of people say that they try DEILD. If I find no success with MILD then I will go to that, but how much time should I give it?

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Time, as in when you wake up to how long it should be till you re-enter the dream?

No, as in, how long should I keep trying MILD with no success before switching to DEILD?

Wait...I think you're getting confused with WILD's and DEILD. For WILDs, you try to get directly lucid, often through a nap, so you have no shift in consiousness. For DEILD, you have to have already been in a lucid. For that, you try not to move or open your eyes in hopes you'll go back into the dream. So, I guess if the DEILD isn't working, then you could try a WILD.

Am I misinterpretting your question again ?

That was a typo, I meant to say MILD, sorry.

But I do find WILD interesting, just I wish I could do it right before bed without waking up in the middle of the night.

      So, I try MILD.

Well then, my answer to that is that in order to have a DEILD, you have to have a lucid in the first place. You can do MILD, and if you wake up from a lucid, try to DEILD. Simple as that .

Thank you soooo much for answering all my questions.

My scheduled bedtime (10:00) is in about 10 minutes now, so I'll tell you if I have any success tonight.

Very incorrect. A DEILD can be done even if you wake up after a normal dream.

Huh...I guess so. I've never used it like that! Usually for me, when I am up I am up....Then I can fall asleep 5 minutes later .

Well then, imaginer, I suppose you can just try both...Try to fall back to sleep once you wake up without moving...
