      I'm a noob with a WILD question

Hi! Im Nathan and have been a lurker for about a month but registered to get a question answered.
I tried my first wild last night with no success. I set my alarm for 5 hrs. After i went to sleep and it woke me up during a dream, so I got up to use the restroom and got back into bed to wild but ended up not going back to sleep for 2 hrs. So my question is, did I wake up too late or early, or did I not stay up long enough, or is it purely coincidental that I couldn't get back to sleep?

How many hours do you usually sleep for? Five hours might be a bit early for me; I tend to sleep in, and the morning is when I get the best dreams. Later on in the sleep cycle is when the REM periods are closest together, so if you wake up after one ends, that'd be the best time to go for a WILD- to catch the next one coming soon. It might be worthwhile working out your own sleeping pattern.

Check this one out, and set your alarm, say, right before the end of hour six. It's up to you, but the later in the sleep cycle the better, I say.

If you woke up right in the middle of a dream (REM period), that could explain why you had trouble going straight into another. If that REM period was just ending, it could have meant that another one wasn't scheduled for a while, leaving you waiting.

Thank you for your help, I normally sleep 8 hrs so i'll just try to use that graph as a rough estimate for what time I set my alarm, I will try later in the night tonight to see what happens.
