Smile First Possible Lucid Dream Experiance

      Hey everyone

First time member here. I have become fascinated by lucid dreams in the past few days, I think in large part due to the upcoming film "Inception", which of course deals with dreams.
I had started idly just search for lucid dreams on google, then found this website and others; quickly becoming enthralled in the process.
Last night I decided to try out a method I had read about, whereby I wake up an hour before I usually do and record my dreams, and then fall back to REM sleep.
Well, I think something definately happened. I woke up around an hour before I usually do, which actually has become a habit recently, not sure why, but I decided this time to take advantage of it, and recorded the four dreams I had, using my iPod voice memo function, which I thought was the handiest way for me at that point.
Once I had done so, I recognised the dream signs within those 4; in this case seeing somebody I had never me before, being in classroom, and last of all being in a military craft of some sort.
I then spent the next hour trying to think of want I wanted to do Lucid dreaming wise, and settled on levitating out of my bed and flying. I even listened to a piece of music to rev myself up for it.
Initially however my attempts at falling back to sleep didn't meet with sucess, I think I was being too concious about it, and got frustrated, thinking to myself that the whole process might take a while yet to get the hang off.
However, as I was then relaxing and fading off, I had a dream which I didn't realise was a dream, whereby I was on my computer and talking to some people that I wouldn't normally be talking with. Then my name appeared on the screen and started typing, even though I was watching seemingly as an observer.
It was at this point that I think something along the lines of semi-lucidity and a dream control happened, and I distinctly remember, getting out of my bed at that point, and floating up to the ceiling, which a feeling of wondering if this was real.
I then basically pushed myself across my room, looking at my hand in the process, and watching the background get fuzzy before it stablised again. At that point I then reached another wall off my bedroom and started pushing against the wall, whilst actually "conciously" taking in a breath to smell everything.
Immediantly after that, I pushed myself off the wall, with the feeling of floating, and decided to explore the rest of the house, heading towards the door.
It was at that point that I woke up, and I started to wonder excitidly if this was my first lucid dream.
I'll note also that I had practied looking at my hand as a kind of reality check, before my dream happened. I didn't however during any point (to my recollection) think "I am dreaming", it just seemed to be a feeling that suddenly something was diffferent.
I guess when I look back on it it's a bit of a confusing dream, as there are parts as I remember where I was sure I was conciously doing something, and actually having the feeling I was dreaming, but the memory is so fuzzy now I can't be completely sure.
I do know I developed a sense of excitement after the dream had sunk in, so I think something did happen along the lines of lucidity and dream control, but it was obviously very lacking in development.
The dream was also very dark and indistinct and part, not really fully lucid in the sense of extreme vividness, but enough to where I could participate and I have the vague memories of what I did in the dream.
Anyway, sorry for the long post lol, but I'm excited by what I think I experianced, and am curious about others interpretation of the dream in comparison to what they have experianced themselves
Thank you again for this forum, and I look forward to future explorations of this wonderful dream world.
      Adios for now.

First off, on behalf of the Dream Guide Team I'd like to welcome you to DV! If you need a hand with anything, just let any of us know. We're the guys and gals with the green names.

Well, different people use different "scales" to rate their dreams in terms of how lucid they were and/or how much control they had and so on. Personally, I'd consider that a pre-lucid dream. You sensed something was off and were able to exert some control over your dream, but since you weren't truly aware that you were dreaming, I wouldn't consider this a true LD. However, you are definitely on the right track! I've had my share of dreams where I'm not lucid but I still choose to fly or I choose to do something that changes the "plot line" of the dream into something that I prefer. Sometimes those can be as enjoyable as LDs, but its still nothing quite like being able to tell yourself "Hey, I'm in a dream!"

You're headed in the right direction. Keep it up and you'll be having full-fledged lucid dreams in no time. I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
