      Hyper Cute Duckling Thingies

These hatched a couple of days ago at my house and I'm thinking - hey, it's not like anybody is talking about anything intresting. So until something intresting does happen, how about I take some pictures of the cute little duckling things. Here they all are. We got eleven of them this time, a definite improvement on the last clutch (four. one got killed).

So yep. They learn how to do things real damn fast. In one day they could swim, clean, fend for themselves, etc. Although they all do love their mom ever so much - they stay very close to her. We had to lock our geese out so they don't hurt the little ducklings. Grumpy assholes.

The photos are hosted and showcased on flickr which is fantastic.

They are so cute. You should keep one as a pet or something.

Aw.... I want one, too! Do you think they'd let me have one in the dorms? I have a shoebox and lots of warm stuff (Montana). However, I'm not sure how they'd like the whole "overseas" thing.

They are soooo adorable! You sell them for pets... right?

One time on my way to work I saw a baby rabbit near the island of the street. Luckily it was early and there were no cars coming. I stopped the car, put my hazard lights on, got a towel and picked it up. There was a wooded area nearby and I wanted to release it deep into the woods (I was afraid that if I didn't it would hop back into the street). Unfortunately I had a dress and heels on. As I stood there looking for the best way in, I saw a jogger running in my direction. I stopped him and asked him if he would take the bunny into the woods and he said he would and took the bunny from me. I told him that I thought the bunny might have even been someone's pet as it didn't seem to be afraid of people. He said he thought the same thing.

I thanked him and went back to my car, got in and drove off. But I had the strangest thought as I turned the corner.. the thought came very strongly into my mind that he was going to take my bunny home and eat him!!"

Haha yes we are selling them as pets. If we end up with another 11 ducks (there is another clutch of eggs), some of them might have to be sold, uh, elsewhere, because really the pen for them couldn't cope with a huge amount of full grown ducks like that, and there's only so many people that want to look after ducks. They are easy to look after though, just build a pen that foxes can't get into, put the ducks in it at night and let them out in the morning. A pond is also nice

Is Muscovy duck a common dish or some sort of delicacy?

I should get a duck. There are already about 3 or 4 cocks living on my street. I hear them every morning at about 6:15 am or so. Do ducks get along with ferrets. I know ferrets get along with ducks but thats just because ferrets get along with anything. Ferrets are too curious for their own good. I found mine playing with my gun once, cute little thing.

I observe that ducks, if they've got other ducks, tend to group together and mind-their-own-business about other creatures or beings. They run away from everybody that comes near them, actually. I've only touched the ducks once. The ducklings are real easy to touch though. So if you have a ferret and a duck, the duck will keep it's distance. It might get friendler with time, but it 's not like I've had a ferret. The geese we've got are much worse - they actually attack us on occasion. And their beaks hurt when they clamp 'em on your hand.

Four got sold about a hour ago They're going to a good home for use as pets, so no worries there.
