vision turning blue/purple when hearing a sharp sound

      Hi,

I'm 24 and this always happened, whenever I hear a sharp sound like something makin a clic or a pop while I'm trying to fall asleep (my eyes are opened) my vision turn blue/purple for like 500ms.

At the same time some muscles violently contract and my heat jump.

      does it happen to you?

Sometimes, even when I'm awake, I can see very vivid hypnagogic patterns forming randomly.
      Spoiler for something like this:
. But when it happens, it'll usually hang around for around 10-20s before my vision goes back to normal.

Do you get migraines? If this occurs prior to headaches, it is likely a pre-symptom of a migraine headache. Otherwise, this could indicate some sort of ocular disease. I've seen many posts on DV about vision problems and they can definitely be very disorientating. Best to just consult a professional about it.

no migraines, I don't think it's a eye issue since I noticed that when I was around 4 years old and I saw several "eyes professional" since then (for glasses, in my country they also check for any related eye problems)

I doubt it's synesthesia since it does not happen during day time, only when I'm relaxed.
Here, I made a gif of what I see when it happens :

Damn, I was pretty sure everybody were going to say : don't worry that's normal xD

Go see an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Also, going along with Marvo's idea. Try this: Scratch | Project | Synesthesia Test

Got my eyes checked 3 month ago for my new glasses, apart from myopa their perfect.
Beside if it's synesthesia it's in the brain, not the eyes.

I go to college everyday by foot wich makes 2x45 minutes of fast paced walk per day.

Wow Frost I think I experience almost the exact same thing. It always happens when I'm really relaxed like about to fall asleep or meditating however instead of my vision turning blue I see for an instant tons of alternating black and white lines exactly like op art http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2E4BNOtbW5...864%5B1%5D.jpg I see all the strange movement between the alternating lines and it quickly fades.

It's always been a strange phenomenon but for some reason I have never asked anyone about it (probably because I fall asleep soon after and forget)

I know I have synesthesia (in my head, i don't actually literally see the colors and shapes), but this only happens when I'm trying to sleep (don't even have to be close to sleep, just relaxed and quiet). Noises make a flash just like yours, except it's white. My eyes can be open or shut. So I'm wondering if the synesthesia is just heightened there, or if it's actually something else.

It's nice to know others experience this! I asked my doctor if she knew anything about it was she was just "Um. No. I have never heard of that."

Haven't given it much thought and I'm not even sure if it's normal or not, but whenever someone mentions an object or activity or anything like that, the first thing my memory does is conjure up what it feels like to touch and probe that object or perform that activity. After that an image of it comes to mind along with a taste or smell. Always the senastion of touching it first though.

If you say "spoon", I'll immediately get the sensation of holding and touching the spoons we have at home. What they feel like when I put them in my mouth. Often it's very realistic, like I'm doing it for real.

Had alot of fun doing this as a kid as I could conjure up any taste I'd tasted before. Used to visualize myself walking around in an empty mall, gorging myself on ice cream and grilled chicken. Conjuring up tastes is just as simple and combine that with how it feels to eat a chicken and I start drooling like crazy.

Never talked to anyone about this before except recently with a few friends, they don't experience it nearly as vivid as I do. But like I said, I might be completely normal and this might be something most people can do. Just felt like getting it out there

I get something like this sometimes when I'm relaxed, and always during migraines and bad hangovers. When there's a sharp sound it's like there's a short flash of white in most of my field of vision, though sometimes there are (faint) patterns to the whiteness. Only lasts for like a quarter of a second or something and doesn't actually obstruct what I see. It happens more when I've closed my eyes.
      April Ryan is my friend,
      Every sorrow she can mend.
When i visit her dark realm,
      Does it simply overwhelm.
