I'm wondering what everyone here thinks of body modification. This includes tattoos, piercings, scarification, branding, sub-dermal implants, cosmetic surgury, etc.

I myself have a few piercings. I have my lobes pierced, and my bottom lip pierced twice.

Honestly, I didn't get my piercings for any other reason than I thought they would look good. And I think they do. I plan on getting another set of holes in my lobes, and then my helix on each ear.

I do plan on getting at least one tattoo some time soon, but I haven't for lack of funds. I have to spend my money on a few other more important things first (like a new computer ;P), but this is more or less what I want:

I'm not a big fan of most other body modification practices, though. Scarification is pretty much just tattooing, without the color. And sub-dermal implants are just plain ugly (just makes people look lumpy). I'm very aware I'm being extremely contradictory to what I just said about my piercings, but I think cosmetic surgury is stupid. I don't even really have a good reason for it.

I would, however, be the first one in line when cybernetic enhancements are hip. I could definitely dig having some nanites to fill my lungs, generating oxygen so I can run a mile on a single breath of air ;D
