      Tape Backup Solutions

Anyone got any suggestions on the cheapest way to backup approx 2000 Gb of data?

I think tape backup is my only option, here
I really don't mind if I end up with 10 tapes or 1000 tapes
I just need the data backed up

what sort of prices am I looking at?
      Any pit-falls I should avoid?

      Thanks in advance

      Tony

Two thousand gigabytes? That's an intense amount of data.

      It's a media server
the bulk of it being dvd's ripped to disk, compressed to XviD
      Complete List

but there's various other bits and bobs on there as well
a backup of the server at work (all 2 Gb of it )
      etc.

There are a number of tape options. Mini-DV will get you about 13 gig per tape. Other digital tapes should get you in the neighborhood of 50Gb per tape. Unfortunately, those are a little expensive.

      DVD's 2000 gig/4gig DVD=500 @ $0.25 each = $125

By the time you consider investing in a tape drive, DVD would probably be the cheapest way to go.
