i've tried so many times to get free things off of the net it isn't even funny. they always end up like this: no free item and 500 junk mail messages over the course of the week. sorry, but no thanks

One of these schemes... sigh. Doc I think this might be against forum policy. I'd like a free ipod too, but wouldn't it feel better if you earned some money and bought it yourself?

lol @ squall. I've heard of this before, a friend of mine was going to do it. It supposedly is a legit way to get a free iPod. It mighta been in Wired magazine or one of those computer mags. Of course there are some conditions you have to comply with to get the iPod...thus docthory's thread. It's sort of a tricky process. Good luck doc but I don't think I'll be signing up...I'm too lazy.
Back with less attitude and more diffidence than ever before! Maybe.

I was going to get a free iPod and it really works.

A company called Gratis Internet has already given out millions worth of stuff in the US. They never ask for a credit card number although they get your telephone number and email address.

You simply make an account, sign up for an offer (can be cancelled and are usually trials), and get 5 other friends to do the same. The friends part is kind of tricky, so sites went up creating "conga lines" to help people refer to each other. The catch is that they'll have your telephone number and email, making an easy target for spam.

You probably don't believe this so here are some reports:
