      firefox trouble

hopefully someone can give me a hand: anytime i try to watch a video in firefox that uses some kind of plugin, firefox tells me i need an additional plugin, and pops up a little window where i can automatically download it. i go through all the steps and firefox declares it doesn't know what plugin i need and sends me to microsoft.com. any easy way to educate firefox? im tired of using IE to play videos..

I had the same problem, i couldn't open quicktime sequences before. Don't download the plugings trhough firefox! It should work if you find them yourself and install them manually.

Here's my solution to Firefox playing media:
I downloaded Media Player Classic (MPC), actually, it was Real Alternative and QuickTime Alternative. It plays Real Player files, QuickTime files, and also Windows Media files. Also I installed the MediaPlayerConnectivity Extension.

I set everything to open MPC in it's own window so it's not embedded. Then everything plays through MPC on my desktop.
