      DO YOU TELL YOUR FRIENDS??......

      HEY WHATS UP

so i was thinkin.... my face lit up with joy when i came across this site haha.. simply for the fact that it had everything i always wanted to discuss and read more about, but didn't really have anyone to talk to it about with !!!!! do you guys have friends that u can talk about your lucid dreams with, dreams in general, or any of your other beliefs? any time i try, they kinda just blow me off, think its weird, dont seem interested, and just aren't on the same level. it totally sucks sometimes, but now i feel relieved that i found this site. the people here seem so chill, and all the things i've been reading have been nothing but interesting. glad im not alone.... like how i did around my friends... its funny how much more enjoyment you get out of your dreams and things you want to talk about when you can share it with other people! seeya

My friends think it's kind of cool. The people I hang with pretty much accept LD.

My friends also dont accept it.

I think that they are jealous of my extra ability to LD

not really since most of them can't do what I do...

I just signed up tonight and I'm looking forward to discussing some of the things I dream about with others who LD. None of my friends LD, so It's not alot of fun to talk about my dreams to them.

For the record, my DH thinks it's a freaky thing to be able to do what I do. But is it really so weird? For me, it's just nice to see that so many others are able to or interested in LD.

      my fiends don't care...

Except for one... she's kinda interrested, and she's seen this site already, but "forgets" to read it...

Another friend says he has ld's sometimes, but that's it... he isn't really interrested.

I have only one friend who doesn't think it's weird and crazy, he even says he has had a few lucid dreams himself but he's not as interested in it as me.

      Oh the ignorance!!!

I told my baby sister (18 yr. old) b/c I was trying to explain things to her when we got on a subject about dreaming.

She nodded her head, smiled -to give me the impression she understood and knew what I was talking about, but I think it just freaked her out. Im the family weirdo anyway so I guess that was just one more thing to add to my list of oddities.

Now the friends that I work w/ are VERY cool about it.
They are interested and there's probably a few of them on here lurking about.

Sure, why not tell them? I even have a few friends who, like me, spontaneously LD. They don't really study it the way I do, but LDing is not some freaky, unaccepted ability which will make people think you've come off your meds if you tell them. Or at least that's been my experience.

yea, I tell my friends about it.. they seem to think its interesting, but dont really have any desire to practice it. They read the site now and then. Its funny to hear them when they talk about something they have read here.

I once told a friend about a lucid dream where a helicopter was coming at me and I just stopped it because it was firing at me...although the firing sound effect did not stop. He was just like "Oh...". I did not know it was called a lucid dream then, but I am convinced he thought I was weird (for many other reasons too). Don't see him any more, but oh well.

My brother found out about this site by rushing into my room while I was doing something else. He mocks me because I have LDs sometimes...even though that's not really what I am after. He is really ignorant though, count him out.

My nephews used to have nightmares and I wanted to explain to the older one that he can control the dream. I stopped watching them really early in the morning, so I do not know how that was really resolved.

I am pretty sure the rest of my family does not recall dreams. No sense in telling them.

Two of my good friends are into LDing, not so much anymore. They were both members here at one point, a year or two ago.

So yeah, we talk about dreaming fairly often.

talked to most of my close friends about it. only a few have been really interested, but seem to be too lazy to learn

i emailed a brief explanation of lucid dreaming and a link to this site to everyone in my email directory a week or two ago. a couple responded and said they'd check it out, but i have no idea if they have.

I don't really volunteer the information.

But when someone tells me about a dream experience, I'm chock full of knowledge and advice for them - I think they're usually shocked I know so much about it.

But they don't ask, so I don't tell. My husband knows and that's about it. Works for me.

You know, it is really amazing. When I tell people about lucid dreaming, they tend to ignore the part about lucidity and go on to tell me about a weird dream or ask for an interpretation.

I've even had people come up to me weeks later and say "Hey, you are into dreams, right? What does this mean?"

They TOTALLY FORGET ABOUT THE BEST PART!!

      i've told a few people
my girlfriend has really good dream recall, and yet never wants to try LD. She's a bit scared of walking into something she can't wake up from. I am working on it

My coworker just accepted this as something i try, and has no problem with it.

My best friend thought it's a waste of time to try it.
Well, i say it's a waste of time NOT to try it. I am asleep for at least 6 hours a night, might as well do something cool there 8)

I've told friends and family, and they've actually experienced it in different levels. They just aren't interested enough in it to take part in the forum much (though I've had a couple friends join).

Even my boyfriend, who could only recall maybe 1 or 2 dreams his whole life before he met me, is now recalling several dreams a week since I moved in, and a couple were short lucids.

See, there are advantages to sleeping with a mod.

That happens to me sometimes as well! I've told my friends but since they know me very well they don't think it's that wierd. I don't always talk about my dreams, though, because most of them aren't interesting enough to warrant a conversation.

I like to talk about lucid dreaming but not overdo it. I mention it once in detail and if the person's interested (s)he will ask about it again. I find it attracts the kind of people I like to talk to when I mention it.

Well, when one of my friends says, "I had a dream last night about..." I run up to them and say, "Tell me more!! Did you know you were dreaming? What happened inside the Dream? Do you want to learn more about knowing you're dreaming?" And whomever I do that with, they run away, because I think I intimidate them (except splash), and if they are more considerate, they will say, "Uh...let's change the topic shall we? After all, you totally freak me out about those dreams you say you fly in a white robe in the middle of the night reading a book!"

Does anyone know what percentage of the population experiences lucid dreams at least once in their lifetimes? I would think that it's fairly high. LDing is not some weird, freaky, paranormal ability - it's a relatively common and scientifically studied phenomenon. I rarely have the opportunity to discuss LDing simply because it doesn't come up in conversation very often, but I don't understand why anyone should be hesitant about mentioning their experiences. Are their friends and family really that closed minded?

Then there are the people who, when you tell them about lucid dreaming, are like, "Yah, I do that all the time," and assume it's something that everyone does. One person I know refused to believe that people aren't constantly aware that they're dreaming when they're asleep.

Do you know how jealous I am of you?
