Was it an alien space craft?

I was doing some backyard astronomy with my Father-In-Law Father's Day night. I had been viewing Jupiter with my telescope and we were looking to the south. I noticed an light orange-colored light moving from North to South at a high speed. It was directly overhead. I estimated that it must have been moving much faster than a normal aircraft but not so fast that I could rule it out as such. It appeared to be at a very high altitude. I had a pair of bushnell 12X50 binocs handy and I was able to get a good look. There seemed to be two lights. One big one in front and one tiny one in back. I did not see any red or blue lights on it nor did I see the normal type of strobe that are on most aircraft. This light was either really bright or the craft was not as high as it looked. However, traditional aircraft would have produce some sound it if were that low with a normal sized light.
I asked my father-in-law what he thought it was and he didn't know, but he said he thought that it had zig-zaged. I must have been messing with my binocs so I did see that and plus it is hard to hold steady when you are looking at a distant object with binocs. A few seconds later the craft faded out as if it went behind some clouds but there were none. I am certain it was a cloudless night because as most people know clouds affect astronomy and I had been looking for them. Plus the object vanished to the south. I had been observing that area of the sky all evening since before sun down. I concluded that it must have left the atmosphere, though I cannot be sure about that. With that said I realize that It could have been a plane, but if it was, it wasnt your ordinary plane. Are there any type of aircraft in the USA that do not require the red and blue strobe lights. Somthing military, maybe? I guess it could have been anything. What do you all think?

South West corner of Missouri, close to the Oklahoma, Kansas borders. Did you see something as well?

I thought I did. But it could just as easily been my imagination, or a reflection.

But I live all the way out in Oregon.

It could easily have been 'top secret' military aircraft testing. They usually try not to turn on many lights.

they need to make binocular tripods or something. They're so hard to hold steady. I feel your pain.
Back with less attitude and more diffidence than ever before! Maybe.
