Anyone who has read my thread in the religion section knows about my new theory on the gods and their little game. If everybody keeps coming up with ideas, i think i could get enough to write a book.

So what do you say? Do you think a book like this would sell.l Maybe i could get on the Daily Show with John Stewart!!!!!!!

Anyway, somebody in that thread suggested i write a novel.

      AND NOBODY TAKE MY IDEA!!!!!! I CALLED IT!!!!!!!!!&#3 3;
dont you go writing a novel on my idea else i'll kick you in the NUTZ!!!!!!!!!& #33;!!!!!!

I think it would be a good idea. There's a lot of people with a lot of opinions on this subject - it would probably be very popular if you did it right.

First, before you got very far into your book, it would help if you became literate.

Then you would need to be thoughtful. To say you have an idea for a book is one thing, but then you must ascertain whether you could actually fill out more than seven or eight pages.

When was the last time you even READ seven or eight pages?

But a new hardbound book that retails for $26 must have at least 350 pages or people don't believe they are receiving adequate value for their money.

Also, to get a publisher, it is often good to have more than one book. To get a publishers attention, you should have one book ready to go, and two more written but in editorial processing, and then outlines for two more. The Publisher will then know that publishing your first book will lead to something.

Besides, your idea ... where do you think you can go with it? More than enough REAL Scholarship has gone into an examination of various Mythologies -- the Gods have been examined quite exhaustively -- Edith Hamilton and then Joseph Campbell have taken the Gods to the Popular Literary Markets. But you wish to poke fun and ridicule them? Well, fine. But how. It would take a certain amount of Moral Superiority and Intellectual Pretense to pull off such a trick. One has to be believable while pretending to look down upon Mount Olympus. Well, pardon me, but you just don't seem that tall to me.

And, yes, there have been some successful writers of the ridiculous. Kurt Vonnegut and Tim Robbins. But what I noticed is that the ridiculous soon wears thin. At first senselessness seems witty. then only cute. then one begins to wonder that there isn't a more interesting book out in the car...

      You Should write a novel!

Only not about religion, but about a man that can control people with their minds. Like Patrick Steward. He allready seen it all.

leo, the last time i "read 7 or 8 pages" was when i was reading the bible (2 times) and the koran. I dont believe you can say you did that at my age.

And who said i was just gonna write this novel on a whim. I will do my studying and find as many parallels as possible. I dont have enough left.

I want to write some kind of fictional novel in the future pertaining to a long-time Christian and his journey to disbelief.

      Maybe you could try that?

oh man, theres enough shit that went down in my journey to atheism to write a whole FUCKING LIBRARY worth of material.

good idea. I dont think the Catholic church would like it very much because everyone would hate them even more.
