Dude...those pics are just plain eerie.especially ghost town..Can you imagine the silence..the death that happened in that place...so many people...It doesn't seem like a place I would want to go.Can you imagine being in a city that has been untouched for years and knowing your all alone?

It sucks to be Japan though. Back then with the A-bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki we didn't even know about radiation yet. A lot of people died after the initial explosion when they tried to resettle the area.

At least the Chernobyl people knew to be careful.

Yeah, I was checking out osme more pics on that. That one old man is crazy to still live there. My mom was telling me that people live around there, but the kids cant play outside or anything, so some of them come to Canada in the summer to kinda " get healthy" and one of them stayed with her family back in the day. As for those pics... The place looks scary. I don't know how else to put it. And I wonder if there actually are messed up mutated things lurking around there? I get the heeby jeebes even thinking about that disaster.

I do know that worms on the disaster site have stopped breeding asexually and find partners now. But that's about as much as I know.

Great site, informative. Radiation is a scary thing, and to think of all the people that stood there in the town, watching the glow as they where directly exposed to the deadly gamma rays, and soldiers that built the sarcophagus without knowing whats goin on... :S...

I heard a story a few years ago that a few men out in the woods found an iron bar exposed to heavy radiation, but didnt know that they just took it with them because it melted the snow around them, and used it to keep their hut warm... few days later they all died from tumors growing all over their bodies :S

That's gotta be a Russian story. The USSR left tons of uranium in barrels around the countryside.

That part has to be myth. Those that die in the first few days don't have time for tumors.

Radiation poisoning has got to be one of the worst ways to die! Worse then ebola!
