I learned about Lucid Dreaming around 1981 from a Carlos Castenada book. I thought it was kind of a cool, if weird thing.
Had my first lucid dream around 1990. Unfortunately, I only have LD's a dozen times a year or so
      But I'm working on it!

I learned from just being a weirdo and reading weird shit in general, but I didn't really try ANYTHING until about 6 months ago. I was taking a philosophy class and there was a small quote by Carlos Castaneda in my textbook that I thought was simply astounding. Don't remember it now, it seems completely irrelevent any more. Any ways, I ended up doing my final based on Castaneda's first book(got a perfect score). Since then, a little less than 6 months ago, I have bought the whole books series and am currently getting ready to read the Fire From Within, after having finished The Eagle's Gift. I have been also reading a lot of other crap recently though, so it takes me awhile to read all this, have a life, write, work, play, all that shit. I am also currently reading:

"Beyond the Quantum" by Michael Talbot
"Food of the Gods" by Terence McKenna
      "Archaic Revival" by Terence McKenna
      "True Hallucinations" by Terence McKenna
"Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LaBerge
      "High Priest" by Timothy Leary
"Hell's Angels" by Hunter S. Thompson

I need to get some Huxley(his real stuff, not stories(read BNW)), some Ginsberg, Kerouac, Burroughs, John Major Jenkins, all kinds of crap.

Sorry... sort of went off there...

my mom was talking to me at the office about this time she read something about "lucid dreaming" and she went to bed that night and all she did was say "tonight, i'm having a lucid dream" so she had one. she remembered seeing all these guys walking around outside, it was dark, and they had pumkins for heads. then she flew up and woke up. so i got interested, and did a search on the internet. that was about a year ago.

Been dreaming lucidly since I can remember, only started to build upon my skills in the past 2 years or so though.
"A knight is sworn to valor.
      His heart knows only virtue.
      His blade defends the helpless.
      His might upholds the weak.
      His word speaks only truth.
      His wrath undoes the wicked."

      Second Attention,

If you have not already read it, you might want to pick up Carlos's book entitled: The Art of Dreaming

      It's an interesting read!

I've already read his other books you spoke of. I enjoyed every one!

I've got it, thanks. I've got them all, seriously. Even the Magical Passes(which I think is Cleargreen corporate crap), and the Wheel of Time. I'm a nut, what can I say? I don't have any of those "New Age" Carlos Castaneda interpretations, though, or read any of the other bizarre stuff that surrounds him, such as the guy who said he met Carlos after he died and wrote a book about it. I'm sure I'll get around to 'em one day when I'm bored, though. At least that weird guy that said he met Carlos after he was dead.. that's just... weird.
