Just a question about the way the site works:
When you log in or out, or post something, then a message comes up for a second saying
"Please wait while you are transferred" or something similar, but then it also says "Or click here if you do not wish to wait"

Is there any point of this message? If there's a possibility to transfer you without a wait, then why not just make it automatic? Can someone explain it to me please, it puzzles me everytime I see it. Thanks

There is no point. They just like to add a redirect...because they're weird.

It's part of the engine for a reason...but seeing how the same php file and command parametre handle both the redirect (and thus the actual action being performed) as well as the display of the following results...well...I have no idea what that reason might be.

THE REASON IS BECAUSE IT'S WEIRD.

Actually I think the real reason is to make it obvious that you succeeded at logging in, etc. Else you would be redirected back to the main page and perhaps be confused: not realizing you are now logged in.

I have a feeling that it's there for the same reason that the buttons on the street are there when you want to cross. It doesn't really have any effect, it just gives you something to do whilst waiting for the light to change.

It's there, because when you post, the server needs like 2 seconds before the post is on the site. Therefore, you reload the page, by going to another page.

I was joking.

ETA: However, given that I DO live in New York and have read about this before, this article might explain where my humor came from.

Well the script is finished when you see the redirect message - I think it's what Kaniaz said, just a notification
