The Gmail service ain't too bad.

I dunno about your claim, but it's definitely a possibility. I only got a Beta release account, so I can only provide info about that. Yes, the GIG inbox feature is real. Honestly, the site admits to providing ads on the side of your email interface, just like that of the google search engine. However, there no pop-ups whatsoever. It's highly ridiculous for a company with a pop-up blocker to give you pop ups in the email client.

Google's a favourite search engine nowadays, why be skeptical, yo?

LOL...no, you have every right to be skeptical. It's just IMO that Gmail works well.

But I feel ya, cuz dood, 1 Gig is indeed suspicious, especially when comparing it to hotmail's measly 2 MB inbox. But people can invade our internet privacy all the time, anyways. We're never completely safe, unless operatiing in a private network.

Yeah you're right. Google is extremely competitive I can see them doing some pretty huge things in the near future. I like them, Its just that you read so many crazy things about all types of Hoopa going on with the new Gmail service. Frankly I don't care. Google was created and is run by a couple of guys that just want to make the internet not so gay...they're basically big nerds that arent too much out for the money...the fact that Google might have to go public is not something they like/want...the whole Gmail is gonna rock, cause its by Google, and they basically just want to provide a non-crappy, non-spammy service

But, truthfully...nobody would care about the stuff I send over the internet. It means something to me, and me only.

use firefox with adblock
All the ads and banners will be from a specific URL. right click on the banner, and you'll probalby see something like, ads.gmail.com/dir/ad.gif or something. If you tell adblock to block ads.gmail.com/dir/, the browser just wont load anything from that url anymore, you'll be ad free

Damn, I just checked it out and it seems great...I don't care about how many ads they have, 1 gigabyte is just too good

I signed up to their newsletter so hopefully I can get an email account soon...
