While installing water pipes, a plumber used pieces of pipe measuring, 2 3/4 ft., 4 1/3 ft., 3 1/2 ft., and 1 1/4 ft.. How much pipe would remain if these pieces were cut from a 14 - ft. length pipe? ( ignore waste in cutting)

      ....

      Yeah, anyone able to help?

It looks simple, just subtract the length of the pieces used, from the total 14ft length.

      That's: 14 -
      2 and 3/4
      4 and 1/3
      3 and 1/2
      1 and 1/4

      So it's then: 14 - 11 and (1/2 + 1/3) = 2.5 - 1/3

      = 2.166.., or 2 and 1/6

      I think that's it... 2 1/6
