This guy is amazing. I wish I could do even a small fraction of what he can...

On a non-lucid dream, I've done some of the simpler things, like jumping from one wall onto another and hanging onto it... it was pretty neat.

It's called "parkour." There are cooler vids of it out there

Yup, Parkour. As Ataraxis said though too, there are better ones. I've seen that vid before, and its not that impressive to be honest. There are some so much better and more impressive.

Parkour is very popular in the UK. More than anywhere else it seems. I want to learn it if I get the chance, but I don't think there is any where around here I could.

It's a lot harder than "just" doing that if you live in a rural area.

Daniel Illbaca is awesome. I think you would enjoy this vid even more. This is not parkour, its freerunning, and some gymnastics.

Parkour and freerunning is almost the same thing.

I'm a traceur myself. Try and watch Jump Britain, great movie about parkour and freerunning, Tyrant.

Ah yeah, I saw this vid ages ago. And indeed, there are way cooler ones out there. Really cool stuff, indeed.

The COOLEST part of it all is instead of laying on our fat asses watching people do stuff like that, with hard work and dedication over several years we can do that too.

several years is the keyword there. I'm 23 already, don't have any background on gymnastics, and don't plan on practicing that on a daily basis. Although it looks really cool, I plan on doing other things with my life in the next few years, like concentrating on my career. I'll just leave parkour for my dreams... it will be much easier and won't take nearly as much practice.

You don't need years of training. If you've got considerable strength (being able to lift the weight of your body), have some balance and can run for more than 5 minutes, then you can do parkour. Then you just have to learn all the difficult techniques. I can climb 2.4 meter tall walls, at a pretty good rate.

About balance and strength... What are some benchmarks in strength that one should be able to do? Like, how many of what body weight exercise? How easily? Also, the same with balance.

But you need years of training to become THAT good...

I don't really have a training program. I just train from time to time. I've already noticed, that I'm getting stronger.

For balance, almost anything it good. Standing up is actually training.
However, I got a lot of balance from when I was young. I have this big rubber-ball, that I stood on all the time, walking through rooms on it. That's pretty good training.

edit: about the training, I just do stuff like lifting myself by an iron-pole.

I have seen stuff like this on T.V. but it was a while ago. I am only 15 so now would be a perfect time to start. I am tall for my age, though would that be beneficial or not. I am 6'1", and 130lbs. So, I am definitely going to go out there and try it.

Height doesn't really matter, aslong as you know what your height is, ie. you don't bumb your head into stuff all the time.

But really, I'm no parkour pro. If you want some more (and possibly better) information, you should go to www.parkour.net
