Hmm... I think you may have a lot easier time at finding the e-mail of your own taekwondo master than any one here in DV, especially since we don't know his name. hehe... just a thought. :p |

Yeah, I'm not so sure about this one. Maybe you could find the answer by asking the specific Taekwondo question here. I know I personally know nothing about martial arts, but someone must. |

k, well, i want to know about double promotion. how it works, etc. |

Am I crazy?
I'm sure that kind of stuff depends on your school. Why don't you ask someone you train with, who has more experience? What's your hurry, anyway? If you deserve a double promotion, you'll get one when you test :p. |
|
my hurry is because i want to know... lol |

Am I crazy?
I'm assuming you mean "test once, get promoted two levels"... It's happened to me a couple of times, but I never asked my master about it. He just surprised me with it at the end cause I was doing really well (not just for the test, but in general). I think that's how it should be. As a matter of fact, I don't even think students should ask the master if they can test. They should just be told they're ready to test when they actually are. In fact, the only times I've ever seen anyone fail a test are when they weren't ready, were TOLD that they weren't ready, but insisted on testing. |

no.. |

Am I crazy?
I'd be surprised if that does happen at all in Taekwondo - its such a formal style, and the gradings are very official. Perhaps its changed since I did it (25 years ago!) - I switched to Taekwondo's 'sister' style - Kuk Sool Won. There are probably official grading rules published online somewhere. |

When I say 'I see!' - I've opened not my eyes, but my mouth.
Well, as standardized as the style is, there are still a lot of differences in how the schools are run. Back when I was in university and a colour belt, our master had a pretty good idea of where everyone was at, and whether they knew their forms. He'd tell people when they were ready, and those people would do the next round of testing. Mind you, this was more the case for the higher belts (blue and up or somesuch). Skills are still very varied at lower levels... |
