      Parents

Do you guys tell your parents about your lucid dreaming? i told my mom about it and she was really interested, but after i got in trouble with things (experienting with mj and stuff) she got worried that this is something that could lead me to it again, so i never really talked to her about this stuff again.

What do you guys tell your parents? and do they care about lding?

My parents don't care about anything, they let the decision making to me. I could have drugs stashed in my room or regulary visit some terrorist website and they wouldn't know about it :p. I told about LDing once douring some philosophycal conversation we had, nobody really expressed anything about it.

I told my parents about lucid dreaming. I don't really think they got it. Now sometimes when I visit, they will ask me about dream interpretation.

I can't wait till I'm a parent telling my kids about lucid dreaming. Imagine a child who is aware of the concept of controlling their dreams from the first time they remember their dreams at all.

Yeah, training a lucid dreamer from birth... that would be cool for them. Or they'd see lucid dreams as nothing special...

I decided when I first began lucid dreaming, not to discuss such things with people I feel would be too closed minded to even try to grasp the concept.

No one in my family aside from my husband knew that I lucid dreamed up until three months ago (my parents and sisters would definately NOT understand).

Three months ago I decided to discuss lucid dreaming with my son and was greeted with what I so lovingly call "the smile". LOL!

But then last month my son sent me a text message and signed off with "Nite. Lucid dreams." Needless to say I still have that text message!

I never brought up the subject on my own, but when my mom saw my EWLD book she asked me what lucid dreaming was. I only really discuss it with my friend, who's also into it.

I have. I used to get a LOT or pre-cognative dreams and used to tell my mum all of them as was fun watching her freak out when all this stuff happened! She is always asking me about my dreams now. I also told her about LDs and stuff, she is very interested.

My Dad however, I can only ever really talk to him about money lol.

That's happened to me, too, only with some of my friends. I told my parents, but it's just not something they're in to. Granted, there are several hobbies I have that the rest of my family isn't in to, but oh well. More for me!

Oh, that's precious! I'd save a text like that, too

I do every now and then, though it's my grandmother I can more, she's been an avid lucid dreamer for years it turns out.

my parents saw me on this site and my rents where are like its demonic and shit and they didnt want to see me on this sight ever again. since its connect to OBEs and (theyre christians by the way) that dont like it.
but then they learnt more and realised if you dont get into it too heavily it can be ok. since my dad had one and its was like an open door to understanding.
but other than that, not much discussion there.
      cool topic dude.

I told my mom about it from the start. She thought it sounded very interesting. She has even had a lucid dream of her own from just listening to my expereinces. I hope she has more...:p.

And actually the samething happened with my older sister. I told her just once about what I was doing. A few months later she called me and told me that she had had an LD.

I told my parents about it, and my dad said that he thinks he used to have them all the time when he was young. I gave them some rudimentary instructions on what to do if you think you're dreaming (reality check and anchor), and since my dad has had one again thanks to the reality check I taught him. He's very interested and says he's trying every night.

My mom, on the other hand, despite being somewhat 'spiritual', is somehow disinterested. She holds that it's 'not real' and so she thinks it's a bit pointless. I taught her how to reality check so I'm hoping she'll have one someday and realize how amazing it is.

Original topic; You're only the umpteenth guy who has made a topic like this. Oh well.

I've told my parents when I wanted to order Lucid Dreaming: A concise guide and EWLD, and they thought "whatever". My mom said she was butchering a shitload of people that night in a dream, and eventually knew she was dreaming, which is why she carried on, because it wasn't real anyways. My parents also saw me writing in my DJ once and I said them it was private. They ask me once in a while if I still lucid dream, and I tell them no (which is true, and I never have actually).

I told my parents, and my sister, and my cousin, and my friend. None of them seemed very interested. My cousin was vaguely interested and asked me a few questions, but hasn't started trying yet to my knowledge.

None of them thought it was bad or evil, although at first my dad didn't believe it was possible, since he'd never heard of it lol.

My parents seemed kind of interested in it when I told them about it, and I usually tell them when I have one.

I told my sister about them too, and she actually had a lucid dream soon after that!

I told my family about it.
Dad: It's impossible, you won't be able to do it.
Mum: You're not getting proper sleep by doing it.
Sister: (Sneering) So have you had any lucid dreams yet?

I don't talk to them about it.

No my parents don't care to much for dreaming so I never talk about it. My younger sister will listen to my dreams, and my little sister is into it. Other than that though I don't really bring it up.
