Yeah, I've never heard of that either. I guess its not out of the realm of possibilities that something bad could happen.

Super Burns to the rescue! It's a good thing that the cat wasn't hurt too badly and that you were able to take it away until the owner can get things straightened out. Now let's hope the people involved in the wreck are ok too. Scary stuff

Good job, Burns! I would be so incredibly grateful to you if I was that cat's owner.

Aww, I wanted blood. Or at least a part where you punched out a window of a flaming car, pulling the cat moments before the car exploded (while the human was still inside lulz).

heh, sorry for the disappointment, Mark75

Update - The owner called me at work yesterday to thank me. She is ok, and didn't even need to spend the night in the hospital. They just x-rayed her spine and since everything was ok, discharged her.

I asked her what actually happened to cause the accident - she said she was turning left, and the pickup ran the red light (just as I had suspected at the time) and hit her doing about 40 mph. Her SUV actually rolled, but landed right side up - which is how all the windows and everything were blown out, and how she ended up halfway in the median. The cat carrier actually stayed in the passenger seat the whole time, even though this was the ONE time she didn't actually have it seatbelted in! Figures!

Anyway, she was really grateful for me going to get her cat, but honestly, it never crossed my mind to do anything differently. There was only one choice - to go and help out. I don't think it was heroic - it was just doing my job and what I knew to be right. Nothing heroic about that at all!

Wow, you guys posted some pretty scary scenarios.
I'll make sure i never forget these, so that when i hopefully get my cat(s) i'll be sure they're safe and sound wherever they go. Or then i'll just keep them inside the house at all times and never take them anywhere. (Not possible i know...)

The only place my cats ever go is to my work, but they ALWAYS travel in a carrier, and always will, whether they like it or not. Titus is great in the car - just sits there quietly and doesn't make a peep. But Cloud, on the other hand, is a rolling yowling maniac in the car, lol

I'm glad your future kitties will be safe, Ariadne!

How well does Red travel in the car? I bet he is a good pup and just sits there without making a fuss?

You are right! For short rides, he just sits there quietly and looks out the rear window. He's not at all interested in sticking his head out the window (thankfully). For longer rides, he just lays down and falls asleep, lol. He's a really good traveller

I had some moron in back of me today, while driving home from work, with their big dog hanging out of the front passenger window. Of course, the window was all the way down and the dog was hanging way out. It wouldn't have taken much at all for the dog to lose its balance and fall out. They wouldn't let their child hang out like that yet, they somehow think their dog is smarter and more capable than a child

      People are idiots.

That's like people with a dog in the back of a pickup.

lol what were you doing in the back of a pickup truck?

I'm glad to hear the cat wasn't hurt or even shocked from the experience.
