God Hates America/Thank God for Dead Soldiers

"America is doomed."

The title is what a group known as the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) are throwing on picket signs and protesting around America at soldier funerals, 9/11 remembrance, gay pride festivals, etc.

They proclaim that God is working his way to rid the world of sinners by killing them, giving them aids, and flooding them out. Yes, even hurricane Katrina was brought in to prove that God is doing his best to smite America.

What these ignorant, incompetent, shit-heads don't have straight is that these problems are MORE prevalent in other countries than America. As far as I am concerned (being a non-American), America wins at contributing the most pollution. That is about it.

They have recently been charged with a $11m fine for picketing at soldiers funerals, but there civil rights give them grounds to plead it. Furthermore, they say that this charge is a gift from God to spread their word around.

If I believed in the Christian God, I would say that this is actually a means to expose how you should not act as a Christian. Further, I hope they get what's coming to them - I can not imagine them staying squeaky clean for very long.

I've been following these guys for a while after I was involved in the Laramie Project, a play about Matthew Shepard (NOT for the easily offended, but then neither are the WBC). They picketed his funeral.
There are only about 100 members, which is a good thing, and 90-odd of those are related to each other
