The main problem with ancient Greek is that it's a dead language, therefore learning material will be hard to come by and no one but rare university professors will be able to help you. There are no standards for grammar and pronounciation, plus ancient Greek covers a period of many centuries, as with any language, it evolved during that time.

There would be no benefit of learning it except for the personal satisfaction as no one speaks it. There is no one to practice it with, even if you went to Greece.

I think you'll find Latin or modern Greek much more useful.
