From what I've heard so far, it sounds like he accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills. He had always had trouble getting to sleep at night, and used sleeping pills on a regular basis. Well once you start taking them, you build up a tolerance and have to take bigger and bigger doses to achieve the same effect. So he probably was trying to get some sleep and accidentally took too much. Preliminary thoughts of cause of death was cardiac arrest, which would fit if this is indeed what happened. No one is suspecting suicide or foul play.

I was really shocked by this news. I really liked him in Patriot (the one with Mel Gibson). Plus, he had that Batman movie coming out too... What an awful and tragic accident. I feel for his family and his daughter.

That's good to hear it probably wasn't suicide. The dark knight premiere in Hollywood will be awkward.

There was a shitload of talking about this in school today, and on the Today show.

CNN said they have next to no information about the cause of death. Drugs overdose seems to be the word on the street though.

This vaguely motivates me to go see Brokeback Mountain at last. I meant to see it, but never got around to it. That was what he got the Oscar for, no?

I haven't yet bought the story that it was a drug overdose, unless accidentally taking too many sleeping pills is considered a drug overdose? Anyway, I don't recall ever reading anything about him being on actual drugs of any kind... unlike everyone else. Especially females. Gah, what the heck is going on with them. Now I'm rambling about other stuff, whoops.

Pills are 'actual' drugs, even sleeping pills

And yes, you can accidentally overdose. Most over doses aren't on purpose.

By "actual," I mean like the drugs that are looked down upon in society.

But anyway, it being "accidental" makes me even more sad, in a weird way.
