Help me add to my Playlist?

      Hey guys,

Should be receiving my iPod Touch in the post some time in this week, i got some music i'm going to put on it, but i need some suggestions of some tracks or album i should maybe get to put on this since i really need a whole set of music to choose from since i'm getting a bit bored of the same old stuff i listen to on my current mp3 player.

I am into stuff like The Beatles, some Indie is okay, i like my classic rock and other stuff.

Just give me some tracks, anything that you think is good, i could really use some songs to stack it up with.

      I must say though, i don't like the following types of music;

      R&B
      Hip Hop
      Dance
      Trance
Emo-type music (Like Fallout Boy and that sort of stuff)
      Romantic
      Pop

If its not remotely good rock, i'm not that interested, but suggest away, i need to expand my tastes a bit.

Thanks a lot for anything you can suggest.

I would reccomend both Epica and Nightwish. They are both rock/metal, but also a mix with operatic in style.

Have a look on youtube for examples of both, I would post them now, but youtube doesnt seem to be working for me :S

Dream Theater. They're like nothing you've heard. Gestalt just introduced them to me, and they're amazing.

      - Foo Fighters - the biggest mainstream rockband at the moment. I don't like all their music though.
      - Hoobastank - simple, heavy rock. I love it.
      - Maximo Park - indie rock kind of band, get 'Our Earthly Pleasures'.
      - The Fratellis - cheerful indie rock.
      - Nickelback - pretty basic rock, atm their famous for their single 'Rockstar', but the rest of their stuff's worth getting too.
      - Linkin Park - not everyone likes them, but their new album is different, so check it out.
      - Nirvana - well they're not that new...
      - Queen - again, not the latest thing, but great rock.
      - Red Hot Chili Peppers - been around for a while and still producing good stuff.

Those are a few of my favourites that fit your specifications. I also like more emo stuff like My Chemical Romance, the Used and 30 Seconds to Mars, but you said you don't like that.

Wow, thanks a lot for the suggestions, this is going to be one heck of an extensive download list.

Thanks a lot guys Much appreciated

Toaster - I don't know about you, but is it just me or has nobody ever really heard of Hoobastank, i have two of their albums, yet a lot of people haven't heard of them.

Totally! I keep trying to get my friends to listen to them, literally the only song anyone's heard of is 'the Reason'. It annoys me, because they're such a good band.
I'm guessing you have their first two albums. The second is the best imho. Their first album only has 4 or 5 good songs, and their latest album (Every Man For Himself) is just not quite as... awesome. It's good though, worth getting.

Maximo Park are another little-known but brilliant modern band.

Since Nightwish has already been mentioned, I'll throw in Within Temptation, Leaves' Eyes, Lacuna Coil, Kamelot, and Blind Guardian. The first three are more Gothic/symphonic metal with female leads similar to Nightwish, the other two are male leads.

Goldney wins yet another step up in my book for mentioning Johnny Cash. Might want to try Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings too if you like him.

Also, listening to Dream Theater now, to see what all the fuss is about. I'm liking what I'm hearing so far!

By this point I think I'm beyond the book Mr. Steel. There should be a new category for me.*

By 'book' I mean that area of my vast intellect wherein I store such factual materials.*

*That came out much more eloquently than I'd expected...
