      Anyone else trade stocks?

Just wondering if anyone else does any stock trading, either with real money or in any stock market simulators.

After practicing for a couple of months with a simulator, I opened an online trading account and put in $3k to see what I could do, and I'm finally getting the hang of it. So far today I've made about $160 doing nothing.

Lots of days suck, of course.

I've done both - simulator for day trading, the real thing for long term.

I've done very well long haul. I've done great for short periods with day trading and always ended up losing in the end.

Perhaps I'm more cautious with real money... I don't know.

I hate to sound a bit dumb in this area, i know about the stock market and vaguely how it works and changes.

But how does this work for you, where exactly would you purchase your stock from?

Fancy letting me in on it? Lol, just kidding, i don't have that sort of funds, mind you it would be interesting to know how it works.

Oh, and at first glance i thought the thread said "Anyone else trade socks"

My account is with Scottrade. They charge $7/trade, and you can buy and sell whatever stocks you like online.

I don't do day-trading. I fancy myself more of a swing-trader, though I'm too new to feel settled in to any particular role. I of course have some money in my 401K that I let the experts deal with. That's the long-term stuff.

My star performer today is QLD, which is up almost 8% as we speak.

I do - got about £6k in stocks at the moment I think, increase this by about £50 a month (putting money into more stocks) - my company also give me £20 a month too, and a free issue every quarter I think it is, just got another 250 shares.

On vista there is a very handy tool for the sidebar which lets you track them too, so can see then changing through the day, although a 20 minute delay or something like that, it is not too bad.
