      saddams capture.

im not asking what you think of the war itself, but rather what you think will come of saddams capture. i think he was a bad man who should be punished.

Asked about thousands killed and dumped in mass graves, Saddam dismissed his victims saying "they were thieves," said one council member.
      -CNN

i don't really care how they kill the coward, but i do hope that the president follows procedure down to a "T." the world is watching, and now its time to show our civility, by not just putting a bullet in his head without a proper trial.

I don't think anyone will disagree that he was an evil person who destroyed many people's lives to stay in power and should be punished.

For some reason, I hope it a public execution in front of all the Iraqi people. They are used to death in their lives unfortunately and I think it would publicly show them that the man who hurt them for so many years will be gone and they will no longer have to live in fear.

Saddam "deserves" whatever the new Iraqi government decides he deserves. I tend to raise an eyebrow when a person is referred to as simply being "evil" - it just sounds like mental laziness to me - but he was a tyrant and will not survive very long, I'm sure.

I think he should have been locked up where they found him, with armed guards around the building. He looked pretty shitty in the videos.

      Or shot, fux0r the information.

He won't be executed, especially not in front of the Iraqi people. If he dies now, he dies a martyr. Let him rot in jail for his crimes. I think that would be a far worse (and more humiliating) punishment for him. Although, I must admit, I agree with Shawndow. A part of me thinks that Sadaam should be brought before the families of those he's slain and repressed.

I think it's great that our collective forces finally found the bastard. It was a sorely needed morale boost for our troops, who were dying for what seemed like nothing. Selfishly speaking, I hope this means that our troops are that much closer to coming home and the Iraqi people are on their way to building and maintaining a save environment.

This does not, however, alter my view of President Bush. I still think he's an idiot.

P.S. - Please, pray to whomever you worship for the families of those who fell since the war was declared over. Because their loved ones died during what is considered non-wartime, they are no longer eligable for the benefits they should be due. As far as I am concerned, declaring the war over so early was Bush's way of saving a few bucks. Why take care of the families left behind when you can use that money to further your own ends?

Unfortunately I think whoever I saw talking was right when he said that the iraqi resistance will increase now that they don't have Saddam to be afraid of. Having said that, I'm still glad they caught him and I hope they give him a fair trial (preferably Not an all-american trial). Why? So noone can say anyone did wrong. (I'm having trouble formulating what I'm thinking, hope you understand it anyway). Also, the USA should really try to do this right, there are enough violations against the Genéve convention anda all that as it is.

      the capture

The whole wide world is most definately watching to see what we do with saddam. Unfortunately, Bush's ratings have probably gone way up as far as re-election because of this. I personally hope they'll keep him in an internation, high-security prison. The world doesn't really need more of his schemes. I do think this will cause a big disturbance in the Middle East though. If we execute him, we may see a good deal of global opposition. Yowsers!

They're not allowed to enforce capital punishment without US approval right now, but once a constitution is in place, the people can vote on whether or not to allow the death penalty... The UN courts on the other hand, don't allow the death penalty and won't get involved in a case where the defendant might face it.

US will try him for death.
      UN doesn't have death penalty.
The Iraqi Tribunal will sentence him to death.

I think Saddam should be locked away also; as mentioned before it's humiliating and I see it as worse punishment than simply killing him.

Saddam is guilty, yes, for many things. But I hate how the US sucks so much ass. Lying to the public about so many things, and social-engineering the entire country into believing we are perfect and holy, and the rest of the world is evil.

      I agree with theroguechemist.

I don't think the US deserves him though.
Good job on finding the weapons of mass destruction. Now we can steal the oil and move onto the next country "harvesting" WOMD. Repeat process.

      Damn US imperialism.

I am not a fan of President Bush. I think he means well, but he seems a bit slow in the head and too set in his ways. Not to mention I just have an all around bad feeling about him. I'm not a politically-oriented person, nor am I a particularly opinionated person. I don't know what things go through the president's mind when he goes to sleep at night. He may truly be trying his best. However, given what I've seen and heard from him in the past, I still think he is a village idiot.

I am forever thankful that I live in a country where I have the freedom to even think such a thing.

It's kind of an old story. Throughout recent times, Americans have never been satisfied with their current president. I mean some will like him and others will dislike him.

Personally, I think we have a terribly self-rightous person in charge who fails to look ahead. Bush has a one track mind: get rid of terrorism. Previous presidents also had the same problem, but they were fearful of communism. Clinton was probably the only president without a fear running his presidency.

I truely hope Bush isn't re-elected, but the Democrats running against him don't look promising either. I hope Hilary Clinton decides to run. She's an intelligent woman who many people would vote for. I would.

      booo... down with america

While our current freedoms are great, we've been conditioned into thinking that they are superior to all other countries. In the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, it's stated that these "freedoms" are indeed rights. Rights. But.. if you fuck up in our country, our country has the 'right' to remove YOUR rights. So are our freedoms rights or PRIVELEDGES?

Wow, good job america on sucking.

But I can see adidas's point of view also... I mean, a lot of these atrocities are mostly good and just plain dandy. you just have to accept them, because you're not going to change anything by hating it, then you'll die, and then nothing will matter.[/b]
