So today when I left for work....

Not only was I delayed due to a car catching fire, yes great! Took me 3 hours to get here, but before I left I went to fill up my car with petrol to get to work, I got to the pumps to see that I was being charged £1.15 a litre! Yes that's right £1.15 a litre, or to the guys across the pond $2.24 a litre so to fill up my little tank cost me £45 ($87.64 to you guys) which will only do me 4 journeys to work this week, I will need to fill up Thursday again.

The prices are getting stupid now! And not only that but I decided to stop by Starbucks on the way for a coffee, to find I was being charged £3.80 for a regular latte!!!! WTF, that is $7.40 - surely that is stupid! When did the proce of a cup of coffee get so damn expensive!

It just seems with every pay rise, you get inflation rises, and who ever calculated inflation at 2.5% needs their head screwing on, because I am sure it is more than this!!

It's good - I DJ as and when I can, I don't need to do it for a living, so I can enjoy it more rather then stress about making money. I also have a podcast, which has grown to about 2000 downloads a week now, getting quite popular!!!

Ah sorry my Latte was only a large, the Grande was about £4.75 or $9.24 in your land.

You still didn't dumb it down enough for us Americans, since we don't know liters. For anyone who cares, £1.15/liter is equal to $8.49/gallon. Makes you think twice before complaining about reaching $4.00/gallon here in the states, huh?

ClouD - No, my full time job is a Business Analyst, I only DJ in my spare time as and when.

Xaqaria - Yeah sorry, forgot to convert to gallons for you guys! It is rediculous! So expensive over here no, included in that the road tax increases, insurance etc, almost not worth coming to work as you pay you wages just to get here lol

yeah things are getting so expensive here...

and in Nottinghamshire now( where i'm at) their going to charge parking tax on work spaces. Some businesses say they will cover it, others will charge their staff the £5 a week.

Off-topic! I just went downstairs to get a drink and i saw my cat AND A MOUSE! Both drinking out of the cats water bowl!

1) WTF i have a huge mouse in my house!( is was pretty big compared to what my cats catch)

2) Why is my cat not doing anything about it!!!!( they never kill mice anyway, always bring em in and chase them but never kill them. I guess this one is living in my kitchen and eating the cats food and stealing their water!)

Maybe the cat decided to make friends with the mouse due to its being huge.

I think that's sweet in an "ooh ick.. it's a disease riddled rodent" kind of way. You should take a picture next time you see them together and post it!

Americas gas is cheaper because the American Government subsidizes(SP?) it i believe?

Where as in England our Government, being money hungry( which i swear doesn't make sense for a left wing government..) taxes it to the XTREME! Out of the roughly £1.10 it costs per litre in england i think its roughly 67p of that is tax.

You'd have to compare those prices to NYC or San Fran, from what Adam said, but I doubt anywhere in the US is that high.

Despite the hit to the economy, I think it's overall good medicine, for the US at least. We may well reap positive change in health, urban planning and infrastructure from this hardship, though it will hinder advancements in setting brown people on fire.
