      I can see both fine.

But actually that isn't true-- Children will see the people first, but not necessarily recognize what the picture is.

The human mind is tuned to look for other humans so that is total BS if a kid is going to see nine dolphins before they see two people.

It's common sense. The people are much more detailed and what would be the evolutionary purpose of quickly identifying shapes that are vaguely reminiscent of baby-dolphins? Yeah, NONE. ESPECIALLY for a child, priority number one would be to find humans for protection, not go dolphin-hunting.

Agreed human shapes are more likely identifiable.

What about a dolfin to find a human for human humping?

      I have to agree.

I just tested it. I have four children (ages 10,8,7,5), and they all saw the woman, first. They only saw the woman, though, not the man behind her. My 7yr old said she saw a woman doing ballet.

After telling them that there were baby dolphins, they did find them right away.

      Leaning to it too.

I asked my nephew 6 year old (male) - saw the man, and said he looked like he had four arms.

LOL.. that would be funny as long as it was happening to someone else! At least the guy was a good sport about it!

ok i don't this is true.. i just lniked this to my friend and told him to get his 5 yr old sister to look at it. She said she saw "a lady like mummy without any clothes on and then someone who you can't see the face is hugging her i think"( i think that's sweet)

So she, obviously without a sexual reference, did see what was in the image. I guess it depends on the person/child.
Lugggs and cuddles and hugs for all!!

Who can say what is and what isn't BS, obviously what you linked to isn't the foremost authority on the history of this image.

      I saw both immediately.

Hmm, I think saying something is BS is similar to saying "this is, with empirical evidence, false." So in that sense, a person is allowed to call something BS with backing if he or she conducted a survey among people from a test group.

Blah blah blah, all that aside!

I definitely saw the two people first. I agree that it makes more sense for someone to see the people first rather than the dolphins, especially considering many five year olds have had little to no interaction with dolphins, whereas they've had plenty of interaction with other humans.

I kind of have a knack for identifying those kind of pictures. I saw the dolphins within 3 seconds.

I saw a woman being caressed from behind by a man immediately, then spent several minutes looking for the other way to see it, even mirroring it and looking at it upside down lol. But I didn't see the dolphins till I read that they were there, then I saw them right away.

Actually, I think that because the parts that make up the human figures are lighter than the background, and the dolphins are the same color as the background, this one favors the viewer seeing the human figures. The dolphins being the same color as the background makes them appear to be negative space around the human figures, thus more difficult to notice.

well of course everyone is going to see the woman first. That's the main focus and the general outline of the picture. The dolphins are much smaller, make up the shadows, and are pretty well camoufolaged within the picture. Even if you find the dolphins fairly quickly, you're most likely going to see the woman first

It took me a minute to see the dolphins. I wouldn't have spoted them if I hadn't read through this thread first.
