this made some quite interesting reading....
and there was some good funny bits - espeically liked the duck/goose role play!!

maybe if i lived on a farm and had my own land raising animals, i might consider eating meat again. maybe not.

my opinion is that the mass production/raising and keeping of animals is pretty sick these days. not saying people aren't entitled to eat meat, people can do what they want, but abuse - well, why? it's just plain wrong. and shows how f**ked up some people in our society are.

someone stated in the thread earlier that this site just wants to convert people to veggies, to eat just fruit and veg.... and how would this benefit the site??? do they hold monopoly on fruit and veg??? if you ask me, a bit more fruit and veg wouldn't go amiss for some people.

.... plants inc fruit and veg grow directly from the sun's energy - meat does not. clearly better for you.

and why do we all seemed to get more hyped up about something like this rather than Sudan - well, maybe because we believe that we might be able to do something about it. we get more say - it's 'close' to us.

It's just another thing to get hyped up about. It's because we have feelings towards other creatures and don't see ourselves as superior in that way. If I saw a thread about people being tortured I'd still share my feelings.

So your basicly saying we should ignore how all animals are treated in the world untill all human problems are fixed? If we are going to do that, then we might as well just say we will never care about them.

Saying its ok to do something wrong because there are worse things going on is irresponsible. Its like saying we shouldn't punish people who steal things because the resources used to catch and prosecute them could be better used for catching murderers. The fact is you can do both at the same time and theres no reason you shouldn't.

Anyway; I can't be bothered posting in this topic anymore. It's been done to death on all the stances and angles as far as I can tell. I could easily just sit here going "it is", then receiving an "it isn't", then an "it is" again sort of argument except with loads of fancy padding and reasons. Ultimately it's a waste of my time. The end.

When you say its stupid to waste time helping them, its basicly the same thing as saying we should ignore them.
