      Formula 1 '08

This is a thread for anyone interested in or following the 2008 Season of Formula 1 (also general F1 discussion). Hopefully there's a few of you...

Who are you supporting? Thoughts so far?

I'm supporting Hamilton... and not because of the massive bandwagon. I honestly think he's the most talented driver out there. He's made some pretty silly mistakes, but outside the pit lane, he drives with incredible skill and gusto. He probably won't manage to take the Championship, though.

I dont follow F1, but I have much respect for them. They dont show F1 over here much but we do get the IRL and they are fun to watch at certain tracks. Id give a lot of stuff to drive one of these machines. Does F1 race at Nurburgring?

Last year they did, but not this year. Nurburgring is the track with the highest death rate in F1.

I can see why. That is one insane track. And what...9 miles long,or is it 13? Im not sure how they remember braking points at 80 turns every lap.

You're thinking of the Nordshlief circuit. It's part of the Nurburgring, but they haven't used it for decades for F1. They just use the full F1 track, which takes about 1.5 mins to go round, I think.

Sunday was an incredible race... awesome start, with loads of people spinning out, and Hamilton gaining two places. It looked like Kovalienen might have been told to let Hammy through in the fourth lap by Mclaren... he didn't put up much of a fight anyway. I thought Raikonnen would catch up with Hamilton no problem - but it was a big mistake for him to keep his tires, whilst Hammy put on new ones. Awesome stuff. His racing after that was just immortal.

Pretty incredible that only four people didn't spin during the race - Hamilton being one of them.

Hopefull he can keep this performance up...
