      Miracle Fruit "Flavor Tripping"

My birthday is coming up. My friend and I are throwing a joint birthday "Flavor tripping" party themed around Miracle Fruit:

      http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/28/di...r=1&ref=dining

We tried it a couple of weeks ago, and it is the craziest thing ever. It completely changes the way everything tastes. We were eating lemon slices like they were candy, and drinking vinegar like it was sprite. My girlfriend was snacking on crumbled gorganzola cheese like it was a bowl of M&Ms.

Has anyone else tried this? I know it has been around for a while. If you haven't yet, give it a try. It really screws with your head.

I've heard of it but never tried it. I've heard from people who have done it that after a night of binging on things like lemon slices and vinegar, your mouth and/or stomach can be really killing you the next day.

True, especially accompanied by heavy drinking. Maybe I should call this an Ulcer Party.

      Nice! Can I come?

I wouldn't mind trying one just to see how it works.

This stuff is useful for diabetics or getting passed the taste of food when you're dieting.

I plan on growing my own miracle fruit.

Looks pretty rad but it's a little pricey.

It's only like a hundred bucks for 30-40 berries.

      Oh wait. American.

You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Wow...I've got to try that. It's just the sort of thing that I would enjoy.

I hope you have a great birthday, RB!

Sounds like fun. Hey Robot, you should eat a raw clove of garlic and see how it tastes, or a hot pepper.

That's what I was implying... that nice things probably taste the same. So really it's only exciting if you want to eat lemons and vinegar...

The article said that bananas still tasted like bananas, anyway.
