Yeah, we're all pretty much well aware of that. Macs are great for games and multimedia development, but outside of that they really aren't a whole bag of tricks much better. It's a religious war either way you look at it though. Yes, Windows sucks, but it serves its purpose.

As for the browser... still stickin with IE, might as well. Everything uses it. I don't understand why they bothered to make firefox skinnable, it's like the latest trend since Linux had it's temporary heyday. Skins in linux are nifty fun, you can make your whole desktop look strange and futuristic or cartoony or whatever.. skins in Windows just don't serve a purpose except to make everything look less like eachother.

Linux has had more than a "temporary heyday". Bill Gates is shitting himself, as he's filed, well, I believe in the region of 3,000 patents, one for the "IS NOT" operator (I think), and has been creating "Get The Facts" pages where Microsoft shows that Windows apparently has a lower TCO, faster requests per seconds, lalala. Oh, and Steve Ballamer sent off an "executive email" where he said how much Windows rules and how you should stick to it. I don't recall them doing anything like this before, so I can only draw upon the conclusion that Linux is whooping ass.

Actually that's all really old news. Microsoft has been doing these kinds of things in response to competition for years, and notable tripled their attacks during the 'heyday' of which I speak - this being back when all the ipo's were going down, and if you had anything to do with linux you had a good chance of becoming an overnight millionaire. Hell, I had a company from the states approach and offer to purchase a web site off of me that was merely more than a concept. I remember when the bidding went down for linux.com - microsoft was one of the highest bidders.

It's heyday is over now, it's had a chance to settle back in and get back to work doing the same thing it's been doing for a long time. If I ever want to set up a server on the internet or to handle any massive workload, I will always go to linux or another unix derivative, for security, stability and straight up horsepower.

For every day life, and using my computer like any other appliance (which it is now in most homes) Linux just doesn't cut it. Windows has this market, hands down.

You haven't explained why Microsoft has been suddenly filing tons of patents. Or why they're going to sue people that use Linux too (I neglected to mention that one).

EDIT: Also, those funny geek people that analyze the market show that Microsoft is losing it's desktop market (slowly).

I think I had a similar problem with hotmail, along with some other sites. It seems like firefox keeps insisting that cookies are disabled even when they aren't. When trying to log into hotmail, the hotmail page kept telling me to enable cookies or I won't be able to log in (this even happens when I wipe the list of cookie-blocked sites, and check over and over to make sure cookies are supposedly enabled). I've had similar problems with a few other sites that require logins, but they seem to have been permanently screwed up by firefox and now I can't log in nomatter what. That browser was so damn buggy, I had no choice but to wipe it from my harddrive this afternoon. I seriously with I'd never downloaded it.

      IE sucks balls!

I used it today because it was required by Tiscali Music. I got pop-ups as soon as i started it. 20 minutes later, the damn thing crashes, and then Windows media player crashes!!

Firefox has only crashed once in the month's i've been using it.

I certainly wont be switching back to IE or Media Player. It's FireFox and Sonique for me 8)

I use both Firefox and IE. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. I like Firefox for research, but I use IE for forums.

      Firefox!

Its a smaller, cleaner piece of software. Its also just newer technology, and better. The real advantage is in the expandability of firefox, with extensions and themes, so you can have better control over the things that are important to you.

Because i hate it when windows XP moves windows into groups, i have that turned off. When i'm look through pages i usually branch off and open several links. So eventually it becomes impossible to tell which window is which, the taskbar is cluttered and i can't read the titles anymore.

Tabbed browsing is great, especially for dialup. I can have my pages in groups and have more room on the taskbar. I can branch off better and find more information. Bookmarks are even more useful when they can be opened in tabs.

      Firefox... Wins...

      There is no competition.

      Firefox wins by miles.

Firefox just doesn't do its job when it comes to forums. I like how I can co-mingle my favorites with each one. Instead of choosing the better one take them both and be the best. This applies to almost everything.

That's what I wonder too. I use Firefox practically for everything. Only if I go to Yahoo games I have to use IE or Opera because for some reason my Firefox doesn't like it.

Pictures load one at a time for me in Firefox whereas in IE they go more than one at a time. It is time-consuming to open a forum page.

If it helps, i'm also on 56k and it also loads more than one image at a time for me.

If it doesn't help, then i offer you a sacrifice for forgiveness:
