When I looked at myself in the mirror, I wasn't quite right.

Last night I went to the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked at myself closely and something wasn't quite right. Despite the fact that my reflection appeared to be slightly taller than me my eyes looked a little wider apart than usual. When I saw myself I was convinced I was in an LD and I did an RC but found that I was still awake. I looked at myself for a while then went to bed.

Have you ever done this before? Looked in the mirror and suddenly noticed something wasn't quite right?

I've been told that if you look at yourself in the mirror long enough, you see weird things...

      Never tried it myself though...

No this was different. To do that all you have to do is focus your eyes on a certain thing (like your nose or your mouth) and your face appears to change. But with this I simply looked at my reflection casually.

No, I don't do drugs and I haven't drunk alcohol for a long while. I'm certainly not mental, either. Maybe I just never payed attention to my reflection, I'm not the kind who stares at himself for hours.

Have you been having headaches lately? Is your left hand currently shaking? This could be severe.

You have 2 days left to live.

Scratch that, this one could come out any minute.

Sometimes if I fix my eyes I can make myself look older. I think you start to see less because fixing your eyes gives you tunnel vision kind of, so your imagination tries to fill the gaps. Seems a bit different from what you're talking about though.

Mirrors can reveal the asymmetry of our faces. We tend to assume our faces are symmetrical, left-to-right, but they're not. Mirrors can exaggerate this. Fr instance, my dad always looks like he's smirking in a mirror. Not sure why, but it's an optical illusion. It's more noticeable looking at someones else's face in a mirror, obviously.

Thanks for a decent post, its nice someone bothered to answer me seriously then ask me if I was stoned.
Usually I see myself in photos, especially recently when we were looking through recent albums. I guess compared to photos the mirror made me look strange.

Was the feeling the same as when you focus on your reflection long enough for it to become strange? If it was, I would say you were highly aware at that moment. Maybe you've been observing something else seconds before, sort of spontaneously meditating, and then looked at your self...
Come on! What if Martin Luther King said: "I kinda have a dream... nah, I don't wanna talk about it."

Yeah, quite. Before I saw my reflection I was watching the movie Watchmen. Could that make any difference?

Haha...LOL! I don't know about THAT movie, with a perfectly suitable title, but movies in general are quite hypnotic. They relax you and focus your observation. So, yeah, it could have gotten you in that state.

In that case, we'll just stick to the 'they focus your observation' part.

I mean, I know the feeling, it happened to me several times. It feels as strange as.....when you pronounce a word, and then you say it over and over again, and the more you focus on it, the more its meaning fades away. The difference is only in whether it is visual or auditory observation. So, like I said, I think you were in that kind of state.
