What's unattractive is when women wear it to completely transform their looks. In other words, wear too much.
If you end up looking like a different person, you need to tone it down and accept how you look. Because if you do look like a different person, that means you changed your looks based off of girls you see in magazines, TV's, movies, etc. Not necessarily of course. But that is pretty disturbing.
As for the chemical argument. True, but there's definitely stuff available that does not contain parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals, etc. Never mind that no one bothers researching it. Same with animal testing. 90% of drug store companies and a good amount of high-end companies do animal testing. If you're all right with that, that's fine. But I've known quite a few girls who've become shocked when informed about it and didn't realize they were buying products from such companies. Again, people not researching shit they buy.
Finally, about girls who do not "care about how they look." I think that if a girl doesn't wear makeup, that doesn't mean she doesn't care about how she looks. Living a healthy lifestyle can go a long way. Eat the right foods, and you'll get nice, shiny, full hair. Eat the right foods, exercise, etc, and you'll get healthy and radiant skin. I digress, though. That doesn't have a lot to do with makeup, besides the fact that at least where I live, most people could care less about what they eat and how they exercise. Eating McDonalds a few times a week, smearing makeup to hide bad skin..yeah. If they really care about how they look, they need to start off with eating right and shit. That's totally another argument though. I just had to voice how disgusting I find that.
I just realized I just restated a lot of stuff from my previous posts. Lol. Oh well.
On a side note, I have a friend who refuses to pick up the mail unless she has makeup on.
