Thread: Calea

So, I just got my shipment of calea. 28 grams of dried leaves.

I was totally NOT planning on doing the following:

Take 6 mgs of melatonin, go to bed at 10 P.M. Wake up at 4 A.M., brew some tea with a few leaves, then smoke the leaves with my bong. Go back to sleep, and experience.

Instead, I plan on TOTALLY just burning it as incense. As directed, of course.

However, if I WAS to do the former, what would your guyses advice to me be? How many leaves should I use for brewing/? Is it okay to smoke the leaves I just used to brew? Should I do the WBTB method I mentioned, or use it before I first go to sleep, and not bother waking up in the middle of the night?

Also, all I have is a coffee pot. How should I brew the leaves? Just put them in a cup of hot water? Should I put them in the pot and let the boiling water drop onto them? Should I put the leaves in the brewing stall?

How well does chewing work?

sort of a late reply, but...

i've used calea before. if i were you don't burn it as incense. Just brew a decent sized tea, 2 finger pinches or crushed leaves. let it brew in a cup of boiled water for 5-10 minutes, stir it.

I've drank a tea like above before bed and had great results. You could also smoke some with the tea, closer to when you actually lie in bed. maybe 2 bowls. then your set.

Do you remove the leaves from the tea when it's been in there for 10 minutes? Or just gulp the whole thing down?

when i brew the tea i just stir it up with the leaves, no bag. when its brewed for a good while the leaves settle at the bottom. i drink it all and if any leaves get in my mouth i just suck up the juices. so no i do not remove them.

Ive taken calea capsules with good results before. never smoked or brewed it.. yet..

Yeah, I have had the several times, I might try again tonight. Don't totally rely on them for LDing, but it does help and is kinda fun. Although extremely bitter I think I actually enjoy the taste, IDK why though. What I do is use about 2 tablespoons and put it in almost boiling water than I just let it sit until its cool, usually 10-15 min. Than I drink it with a bombilla. works great! Also I have smoked it but its harsh and I didnt get much effect from smoking.

i like the taste for some reason too. haha, its not that bad. if i smoke it, i smoke and drink. i may have some tonight. ive used it about 8 times and had lucids like 5 of those times (about) .

I used it the last 3 nights since posting in this thread and I have had a lucid every single night. Last night I flew to the moon and met an alien! I forgot I still had a bunch of calea until I posted in this thread!

Calea has given me ups and downs, but A few weeks ago I tried it on a Friday night. I burned some to get the scent in the air, and I took some pills of it as well. I did not have a very vivid lucid, but I had quite possibly one of my smoothest transitions from being awake to a dream ever. I had a subtle thought that turned right into a dream. It was short, but I enjoyed it greatly.

smoke a fat joint of it before bed. maybe smoke some at like 3 or 4 am too depending on when u go to sleep. i love it it helps a lot. cant stand the taste of the tea tho... thats where silene capensis comes in.

I have a much better experience smoking the leaves rather than drinking it. I smoke 1 teaspoon out of an apple. If I decide to drink it I usually use about 2 table spoons worth......and I don't get the same desired affect. In my opinion drinking it is a waste......A.) Tastes worse. B.) Use more. C.) Less effective.

Last time I had the tea, it didn't taste awful at all. During my WBTB later tonight, I will be taking a cup full of atleast two tablespoons. I'll leave the leaves in there this time. WIsh me luck!

That makes three of us. I am casually sipping a calea/melatonin/gabba mixture at the moment. Its going to be a good night.

Good morning. Did have a Lucid, which I managed to stay in even though it faded away. This was just an hour after I went back to bed after my WBTB. The dream was a bit complex and long, but I wouldn't say that it was that much different from my regular dreams.

Calea seems to be good for inducing lucids, but I'm pretty certain that my own intent is enough for this.

It didn't taste bad this time either, perhaps just a bit. It only tasted sweet as hell from the honey, and gulping the gooey leaves wasn't very pleasant.

I'll get back to you in a few weeks when I've tried smoking some extract or something.

Dude that sounds like you think Calea is illegal to consume in the US.
As far as I know it isn't illegal at all; Off course they could have updated druglaws and tightened the noose around civil liberties more again.
Is it illegal to consume in the State of New York nowadays?
If so; off course just screw these immoral, civil liberty cripling laws and...erm I mean just use it as incense then

I've drank Calea extract Tea; This herb could very well be the origin of the word "bitter"
Herbs don't come any more bitter than Calea. (well except for Wormwood perhaps :O )
The tea didn't have significant effects on my dreams other then that they were slightly more vivid and memorable;
So insignificantly subtile that it could easily have been placebo.

I would like to try again. Maybe just some dried Calea leaves instead of extract. The extraction of certain chemicals may exclude unknown, active substances that are present in the plant.
Better still might be to buy viable Calea Zacatechichi seeds and homegrow them; Light and/or Heat may have degraded the active components in the process of drying the leafs.

I really wonder what effect a Tea strained from freshly picked Calea leaves would have.

yeah lately ive thought of growing calea too, apparently its pretty easy to grow

well on ebay, its like less than ten bucks for some seeds, is there a better place to find them? Also do you have a link to a good site about growing it?

I think I will just buy a live plant on ebay for about 15 bucks and then make some cuttings of it. Says seed can be hard to germinate and must be fresh but other than that easy to grow and very easy to clone!
