      Valerian Root and Melatonin

I'm not one to really use supplements, but I am in a dryspell, it's been about 2 weeks (except a short lucid the other night) but I've been in this funk for about a month, for a while I was having multiple LDs every week but now for a while I have like one every few weeks, and it is getting annoying, so why not try some supplements?

      I have b6 (100mg) and b12 (1,000 mcg) already but I rarely use them...

I am going to bike to wallgreens in a few days, and they have Melatonin and Valerian Root in stock, so why not pick some up?

I need to know how many mgs I should get, how many mgs I should take, for each, and what time I should take them, or any tips.

the reason I am creating this thread is because I want to ask questions so don't be a stick in the mud and say "Oh, herp derp, seach it"

I was thinking of getting this one Nature's Bounty*Melatonin 1 mg Dietary Supplement Tablets | Walgreens for Melatonin and this one Sundown Naturals*Valerian Root 530 mg Capsules | Walgreens
there is other Valerian root ones too Nature's Way*Valerian Root 530 mg Capsules | Walgreens and Nature's Bounty*Valerian Root 450 mg Plus Calming Blend Dietary Supplement Capsules | Walgreens and the other Melatonin they have is 3mg
so yeah, just tell me what ones I should get (there are also more options for Melatonin, but it looks like the main difference is brand and mg, same with the Valerian root)
      From my rotting body,
      flowers shall grow
      and I am in them
      and that is eternity.

3mg of melatonin taken 20 minutes before bedtime without food with a glass of water. 50 mg of vitamin B6 taken with half a glass of water 4 hours after going to bed. You may try 100mg of B6, although that is quite a lot.

In my experience, Valerian root is only useful for calming down thinking before bed, and I've yet to see any positive effect on dreaming. If anything the effect may be negative, as I recall more dreams when not taking valerian. (I take 900 -1350 mg occasionally when I'm too excited to fall asleep normally).

In my experience, B complex vitamins may not be beneficial for dreaming. Only B6 seems to help me.

Well Valerian is definitely a great sleep aid which should help you fall asleep a little more quickly. Same goes for melatonin. However, if you don't like the smell/taste of fresh dog crap, then look for the "odor-controlled" Valerian Root tablets that are coated. And unless you have difficultly actually getting to sleep, then the Valerian probably won't be much help. In fact, I've had more luck with certain foods than with supplements like Melatonin. I do take Melatonin every night, but not for dreaming purposes. When I want to lucid dream, I'll eat a banana before bed. I dunno why it works, but it works.

I usually have vivid dreams when I take valerian before bed. I often have spontaneous lucid dreams if I take 800-900mg valerian and about 1-1.5mg melatonin. Enough to make me think it is not a coincidence.
