Thread: Lucid mask + Morse Code?

I am currently in the market for a lucid dream mask. I'm holding off to hear what Novadreamer 2 will be like before I pull the trigger on anything.

Since all these things really are is a guaranteed dreamsign, has anyone experimented using it to flash Morse Code, something like .-.. ..- -.-. .. -.. (lucid) to enhance the chances of recognizing the dreamsign for what it is?

I look forward to experimenting with this in the near future. Perhaps some of you have already had luck with this already?

Yeah. I seen those sold. There's a knock off on one on Amazon. I dont know how they work. Its not something I would personally try simply because the price is too high. Usually about $200-300.00 and Im not going to pay that for something that may or may not work at all. Probably in my case...not work at all lol. I can't even test it and if I dont like it return it as if I bought it from Target or something. I would really look into it, research, read peoples writeups on it. Into than be cautious of it. Ive seen some good reviews, and I seen one guy on Amazon terror it up in a review how it did nothing for him but made him feel like he had a mask on and it was pointless. Its like those commercials I see on TV that say "A special burning exercise rope. Burns calories 90 percent more than anything else. All you have to do is put it under feet and do pull ups with it." Some people will market it anything. So be careful. Since it involves lights shinning small red lights into your eyes at night during sleep...I would ask your Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) if this can have any long term affects or damage on your eye health in the future.

Unless you can read morse code very well as if it's second nature you might not have so much luck trying it like that. NovaDreamer may increase the chances of a lucid, but unless you're very good at finding dream signs chances are it won't always help you.

But some things work better for some than for others, so let us all know how it works in the near future.

I made one... the scholar edition will be available for $77. It plays audio tracks when rapid eye movements are detected.

It can't flash Morse Code patterns, but it can decode Morse Code from blinking patterns:

Does this still work if the person using it listens to music as they fall asleep?

Since I was up all night and morning from trying Galatamine again (Im done with it. I feel like a 10 year old whom just ate 20 bags of Cotton Candy and five Cokes after taking it) I was researching Nova masks a bit. Sold for $900 when it came out around 1993...company no longer makes it...and everyone gave it bad reviews that Ive seen on youtube even the knock off lucid sleep masks just as bad lol.

You might want to do a little more research then. The novadreamer has been the most reputable of all the masks that have come to market. At the time of release there was nothing else like it and the price was on target. Now you have REM-Dreamer ($250ish) Remee ($95) modeled after the original Novadreamer.

Stephen Laberge's Lucidity Institute has used the novadreamer to conduct many of their scientific studies on lucid dreaming. If that name is unfamiliar to you I might suggest picking up his books.

After a few years they stopped producing the Novadreamer but it can still be found on Ebay for about $500-600. Since they stopped production they have been working on a newer version. This was expected to release in 2008 but for whatever reason was delayed. They have recently informed that the official presales announcement is expected this month. The Novadreamer2 is currently being used in their workshops.

Like all lucid masks it is not a magic device that guarantees lucidity, it simply guarantees a reliable dreamsign. It is up to the dreamer to interpret that dreamsign to trigger their lucidity. This is why I am interested in associating a recognizable Morse Code pattern with this dreamsign.

Im just going off reviews off of Youtube. One especially entitled "Novadreamer Tutorial Pt. 1". Every personal review Ive seen has been less than steller with most saying not much has happened. It has three stars for a clone mask on Amazon. One lady said she gets Lucid 4 our of every 10 times using the mask which is a 40 percent sucess rate...which would be an "F" on a college exam. I get the same results without using any of this stuff (actually I seem to lucid or semi-lucid when Im not using this stuff like Galatamine) so makes one wonder if its in our minds all along. That these items are just a placebo on our brains. Maybe it works for a few; I dont know. For the price whether its $900 or $200 it better work. Why I promote not buying it unless they give you a 100 percent money back return policy when the suppose newbie one comes out ND2. At least here in 2012 we can research something before buying it unlike 1988 where you bought it off a TV or radio ad or infomercial and had to risk it.

I know how much they cost when they came out. Im not an eighteen year old kid. I was very much alive and kicking in 1992 (I was a teen than though) when the concept started taking waves. It was in a few magazine write ups back in the day. They were going for around $900.00 starting which in 1993 would be about $1,100.00 today when you had inflation into it. Which probably cost them no more than $100-$200 bucks to make per unit. I wouldnt buy anything on ebay of such sorts because most sellers have a "as it" policy on their items.

Morse Code is a great concept. I studied a little of it when I took my Ham Radio FCC License exam back in 1995...but I never used Morse Code and fastly forget it in a month. MC takes time to learn...it might be an interesting idea keeping in mind though a lot of people today (2012 era) dont use MC that much on a hobby level. Even in the mid-1990s it was kind of being phase out and the FCC has cut it out of most of their Ham Radio License requirements for the upper class licenses. But at the same time...wouldn't adding MC into it be almost the same as usying Hemi-Sync or Thelta tones? People that deal with the Astral Projection aspects of metaphysics (Astral Project the sister to Lucid Dreamer as I call it) work with tones to try and indouce alternate state of mind realites. The Monroe Institue in Virginiais based mostly just on that. Ive heard mix results on Hemi. Hemi has helped me personally to relax though. Whether it actually changed anything in my brain I dont know. Its safe so nothing to lose by trying.

Interesting. I looked into this product when I was searching on this subject.

My goal is to use Morse Code as a dreamsign since the common flaw on all lucid masks is that the random flashing of lights are easily interpreted to be something familiar such as police lights or someone flicking a lighter on and off in front of you. I hypothesize that seeing a pattern that your mind instinctively recognize as Morse Code for the word "lucid" that the message will be less likely to fade into part of the dream world unnoticed.

Perhaps if the audio track plaid when REM is detected is the Morse Code it may have the same effect as the flashing would. A combination of both would be most ideal.
