      Algorithm eyelid Infrared

Hi everyone! i'm a newbie in lucid dreaming, but i'm working on a device that will flash two leds if you are in rem phase

But i'm not a very expert to code it...so i want some help by the guru of this wonderful forum in code or pseudo-code to write the algorithm of detection of rem using an ir transmitter and a ir reciever.

      Thanks

It all depends on the microcontroller you're going to use. I'd suggest to go with a ATtiny45 or 25.

Secondly, you don't need any IR stuff, just two red LEDs. Preferably 3mm of diameter.

As for the REM detection... that's impossible. Instead look on the forum for the time the REM kicks in after falling asleep. It should be about 4 hours.
Just use a delay function in the code.

There is an app for iphone called Dreamn where it logs your night into something like this(logging your REM)

      Awake
      asleep
      deep sleep

9deep sleep means nREM and when it peaks on awake it means REM)

      Dream: on

sorry but i will use ir led for more precision of detecting Rem phases, but i don't know how to write the code to make me sure that my device has detected rem phase.

      So we need to:
1.) read from the sensor with eye opened and hold viewing the sensor
2.) read from the sensor with eye opened and moving it
3.) read from the sensor with eyelid closed

all of these values will be stored in variables.

but when i wiil check if we are in rem phase i don't know how to proceed...with a simple if it doesn't work...too much false positive.

      Any suggestions?
      THX.

So... you're using the IR detection to get more precision... but your method returns too much false positive... right?
Sorry, but you're not making sense at all.

Anyway, this method doesn't seem effective... why don't try to use a brainwave detector? Very low percentage of error, but requires more parts, etc. Anyway it's better.

Feed 2 inputs of IR detectors into a differential amplifier (instrumentation amp is best) and measure the difference between 2 detectors. If your eyes move around (REM stage), the difference between the detectors will get greater, thus the output of the differential amp will increase. This can be easily detected by a micro.
