This idea just came to me ! At 5:18 AM, from lack of sleep and mountain dew!

A subliminal message is a signal or message embedded in another object, designed to pass below the normal limits of perception. These messages are indiscernible to the conscious mind, but are alleged to be perceptible to the subconscious or deeper mind: for example, an image transmitted so briefly that it is only perceived subconsciously, but not otherwise noticed. Subliminal techniques have occasionally been used in advertising and propaganda; the purpose, effectiveness and frequency of such techniques is debated.

and for those of you that don't trust wikipedia :
subliminal [suhb-lim-uh-nl]

–adjective Psychology existing or operating below the threshold of consciousness; being or employing stimuli insufficiently intense to produce a discrete sensation but often being or designed to be intense enough to influence the mental processes or the behavior of the individual: a subliminal stimulus; subliminal advertising.

Now this is all theory of course, and I suppose there isn't a ton of credibility...
but you have to ask yourself...

What if?

A lucid dreaming subliminal message... You're Dreaming... I'm Dreaming... embedded in the logo video of some dreamviews flash thing!

What if?

-Ezekiel

Hello ezekiel7,

Actually, subliminality is very much a hot topic, and there is a lot of research work that uses it as a given on which to build and test new hypotheses. You will find lots of posts on my blog - http://success-nirvana.blogspot.com (click on the "subliminal" tag) to read up on them.

On your point about the possibility of videos flashing subliminal messages, here's one post on the same blog that talks about the same thing - http://success-nirvana.blogspot.com/2006/1...e-phishing.html.

So your ideas are very much in alignment with reality!

Cheers,
Sanjay.

How about getting some old coca cola ads and putting sublims in them. Never mind, bad idea, they probably already have sublims in them to make you drink cola...

Seriously, sublims are a pretty hot topic. I have experimented with them a bit, and not succeeded (it got me non-nightmarish, but mildly scary dreams instead), but if you work to finetune your sublims to get it right it can work very well from what I've seen.

Hm, I wonder if I can get a subliminal sign made for me for my wall in my room. I also want to get a solar system mobile, so I'll be more motivated to have dreams located in the cosmos!

The subliminal sign could be a challeng if you want it painted, but if you have a good printer, photoshop (or other decent photo-editor, there are some good free ones if you look), and photo paper (optional), you could take a nice relaxing picture, and put some messages subliminally into it, in a way that if you look carefully they're visible, and otherwize just blend in with the picture, and hang it in your wall.

I thought they disproved the power of subliminals like in the 50's.

Hey guys,

Though off topic, this subliminality thingy, yet relevant to the domain of self-development, here's one post that provides historical perspective on subliminality - http://success-nirvana.blogspot.com/2006/1...historical.html.

The Wikipedia article needs to be updated based on the latest findings and research.

Some good subliminal softwares are these -

1. Audio CDs: http://www.short10.com/?c=audiosubliminal
2. Visual CDs (install on your desk-/laptop, works in the background): http://www.short10.com/?c=visualsubliminal
3. Prepare your own CDs - Subliminal Studio: http://www.short10.com/?c=studiosubliminal

All of them are self-development tools, worth knowing about and experimenting with.

My two pence.

Regards,
Sanjay.

I use Photoshop CS2.

It would still be difficult though, to print out something I have to look at... especially since my printer is suckeh!

Yeah, that's what they wanted people to think, so nobody was suspect.

Hi again,

Forget Coca Cola, these days spammers too are attempting to get to you subliminally! Here's one of their animated GIFs. Its pretty crude, but they are improving every day -

Here's the complete story, if you are interested - http://success-nirvana.blogspot.com/2006/1...ssaging-to.html

You're kidding right? That's got to be a fake. Either that or spammers are even stupider than I think.

Unfortunately, it is true. My article alludes to the Sophos news release that created a stir in September 06 when this spam was discovered.

This is also one of the reasons why I have given a clarion call for developing a filter that detects and squashes such attempts at reaching out to our subconscious. It should work something like the spam /phishing filter. Here is my article on such a filter -

lol, I've read about that sanjay. Awesome idea! =P but I think hypnosis is the equivalent of subliminal e.g. it can be used for both good and evil... Let's try to harness the power? I could build a macromedia flash animation, but it would take some heavy subliminal research.

Actually, I'm currently experimenting with a program that will send me subliminal messages of my choosing; it flashes them up on my screen every ten seconds. I've put things like: "Lucid dreaming is easy" in them. the only problem is that they tend to knock down games, so that cuts out about half the time I spend on my computer. I just ran a search on google for "free subliminal messaging program download" and picked one. No results yet.

I posted a subliminal technique I dubbed 'SILD' I used for lucid dreaming a long time ago which can be found here if anyone is interested:

Now here is Nowhere

I woke up this morning and got into bed. Went up to the roof and swam down the chimney to the mall. They had a special on meat so I poured some into a glass and watered the milkman. Then I drew myself home and found the fish had ate the cat the cat had ate the dog and the dog had been eaten by the mailman. Then I got out of bed and went back to sleep.

I think Brain Bullet doesn't casue any gameing problems from what I remember (though I am not at all a heavy gamer), and is pretty user friendlly and nice. Free too. I didn't get effects though, but if I experimented more it might have been able to work.

http://www.mindpowernews.com/SubliminalBoost.htm

Someone should experiment that.

Wow, that article was surprisingly not bullshit, like most of those articles are. I might just even try it That's a really good simple idea except I don't want to wake up in three in the morning. The software also looks nice, but I am not paying $30+ for it. I did find a free software called subliminal blaster though, and intend on trying that now..
