      Thumbs down

This is so simple I have a hard time believing its never been done before. Its just an idea I've been kicking around. I have yet to try this myself but in theory I don't see how it could fail. Here goes:

Get an alarm watch. I've found watches intended for medication reminders that would work for this. You can set them to vibrate or sound, but light would work better if one exists. Set an alarm to go off every hour you are awake. At each buzz, perform a reality check. This gives you at least 10 checks a day, a good thing for any method. When you go to bed, set it to go off 5 hours after you go to sleep. Pavlov anyone? Like I said, I haven't tried it yet but it has to work. A sound alarm would wake probably wake you up, so I assume vibrate and or a light based notification would be preferable. I've been looking for possible devices that would work for this and the medical watches are all I've found. Some phones might work if you could program them correctly because they could easily be set to light only. No drugs, no expensive headsets, just an alarm and metal programming. Please help me find a suitable device. I believe this might be a solution for many, including myself. I have had a few true LDs since my first attempts a couple months ago, but this might enable much more frequent journeys. Please post ideas, suggestions, criticisms and we will see what evolves.

that's a good theory, but it has been done many times before. Well at least the part during the day. The part at night might be able to make you go lucid, but you would have to work with it for about a week before you could truly be reminded during a dream. also you would have to put it to the same setting (such as always light) but these things wouldn't always work.

Do you think you could post some links dealing with similar plans so I could develop mine further? I agree that it wouldn't always work and I know that the settings would also have to be consistent. Does anyone have any experience trying this type of method? I am still very optimistic about linking the day and night RCs and am curious if anyone has had any success with it.

Seems like a good idea, i was a heavy poster, tried lots of vitamins/drugs (never done anything before i herd of LDing besides drink alot) for like 3-4 months and only had two weak LD's and gradually stoped trying lost all of my excellent Dream recall, anyway i need a way to remember to RC, this sounds good. Im going to set it on my cell phone, i already get tons of text messages, and actaully have woken up feeling vibrating in my leg when my phone isnt on me so i know it could possibly work. Sounds great. A alternative is tattooing "RC" on your hand :-)

My only problem with the phone is I have to press a button to get it to quit buzzing, meaning I'd most likely wake up if it just kept going. Hopefully you have a more dream conducive phone than I do.

Nevermind, my phone only lets me set 6 alarm times :-/ thats No good.

Also, scook, i wasnt going to use it during sleep. I was planning on setting every hour from 6am - 11pm when i go to sleep and having just a one pulse vibrate. So everytime it went off i would remember to do a RC, and hopfully my pocket will start vibrating in a dream and ill do a RC, becuase i get so accustom to it.

You're actually in luck, I was going to get around to posting this on here sooner or later.

I found this while googling for LD stuff. It's called Lucid Weaver and it's an application for mobile phones.

It's free to use but you can donate if you want, so I'll give you the link...

I think you need at least a symbian phone, but give it a try.

(You will need to be able to connect your phone to your PC somehow for this to work.

ie. USB cable, Memory card, Bluetooth )

I am looking for something similar.
An ideal device for me would do something like that:
I wake myself with a normal alarm clock ( or possibly with the device ) in the early morning hours.
Then I press a button on the device ( possible turning it on ).
After a defined time ( say 30 minutes ) the device turns on an electrical appliance ( such as turn on a lamp, or a tape-recorder where the play button is already pressed ). and turn it off after a second or so.
It keeps doing this every 5 minutes or so. If I'm having REM I may notice the signal and become lucid. If I am in deep sleep then I will not notice it ( obviously the intensity/volume will need to be adjusted )
There should be a way to reset the device so it will wait 30 minutes again, in case I wake up again.
This setup is similar to the one used in this DIY dream mask:

Any idea what's the easiest way to implement this?

wow this sounds like a great program.. I just downloaded it on my phone and Im using the reality check method right now...

the easiest way I saw to download it was go to www.lucidweaver.com/mobile/ on your phone and go down and click accept, 20kbs later this puppy is loaded up and ready to go...

the part of this program that I think I will like the most is that it will wake you up between REM cycles and it also has a certain set cues so you can lay there perfectly still as soon as it wakes you up and just wait for it to go off... That way theres no moving and it should be easy to slip back into the dream you were just in.. and hopefully lucid

Cant wait to give this a shot tonight.. just turned on the reality check mode so I should do quite a good number of RC's today

I have a Nokia 3230 ( ) but can only get the RC function to work. The other two functions don't make any noise like they should.

But last night I saw that they've updated it so I'll try the Dream Alarm tonight and hopefully it will wake me up.

Done before but this way it would indeed be a constant reminder. Every hour would be great. It'll easily roll into your day schedual.

Just an Idea to CONVERT a Medicine Alarm into one that doesn't Make noise but gives Light. I guess you could do this even if you are 0,0 Technically inclined:

Open up the Medicine Watch by unScrewing the outside and Find the Mini-Speaker within that Makes the Noise when the alarm goes off.
Detatch the 2 Wires powering it and fix them to a Lamp instead.
Maybe a row of LED-lights or some other Small lamp would be fine.

This should make the Alarm be a LightSignal instead of a Sound Signal. Easy enough to fix I guess.
