      i don't know, I don't have a rem dreamer yet.

There are some other people here that have one, so post the question openly.

I'm gonna test the device for the first time in a few moments.
I am not expecting results yet because my mind has to realize that light is a dream sign first.
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
-Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
-Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

check out "Reyth's Rem Dreamer Journal" on www.ld4all.com

It documents the different settings he's tried. Very insightful so you don't have to keep fiddling.

I just ordered mine. It takes a week for them to respond, but supposedly mine will be delivered shortly.

I saw the same ebay ad and declined the offer because there is a only a 3 day gaurantee. I did correspond with the seller. REM dreamers aren't cheap, even though they're cheaper than Novadreamer or Dreammaker, and I prefer to have my warranty and contact with the ELI company if it is defective. However, if you are willing to take the risk, than it's a faster way to get hold of a REM dreamer.

Don't do it! It costs 142 euros on their official site, while it costs 250 dollars on ebay... He takes ages to respond, but unless you wanna lose 100+ dollars I'd wait...

Okay, I had a lucid dream about a week ago.

For those with a REM dreamer, try the WBTB technique. Stay up for an hour, and put the mask on, set it to go off in about two hours.

I use the standard default setting of 7:3 for sensitivity, and the normal 1:1 setting for people that sleep regularly.

I tried the 1:0 setting for light sleepers last night and I didn't see the flashes at all.

I do not use the dream alarm.

The trick to using a REM dreamer is to practice the various techniques like MILD. Keep asking yourself if you're dreaming or awake, and train yourself to respond to the flashes. I tell myself that if I see flashes, I will ask the question if I'm dreaming or awake. It works very well.

Do this and try the WBTB technique and you're almost gauranteed to get some type of experience.

Every time I use the REM dreamer now, I get some type of experience, even if it's not a fullblown lucid dream. I had a series of false awakenings about a week ago, very awesome but kinda creepy.

and every school sleep i get the max of 5 flashes per a night=not good.
can you tell me all your settings?

      you know...

      1:1
      7:3
      6?
      5?
      4?

      and so and so...

That's really all the settings I use-- don't you have the instruction manual?

I do try to set it to go off after one hour and thirty minutes once I go back to bed after I stay up for 30-45 minutes when I'm doing WBTB.

If you're not dreaming enough, you probably need to practice dream recall for a week. You need to recall dreams when you practice lucid dreaming as you can forget easily your experiences. Eating something before bed helps quite a bit too, if you're having trouble dreaming.

Practice lucid dreaming on the weekends when you can sleep in.

      The NEW version of REM-Dreamer

I understand that there is a new model of the Rem-Dreamer available, with improved features. It has rotary switchs and buttons instead of dip-switches so should be easier to configure. Sells for 170 Euro according to their site.
Has anyone tried one of these, and with what success?

yes, that is what I use. It's very easy. All you need is a small flathead screw driver to turn the knobs according to the instructions.

Scientific approach;) imagine to add a sound....

      Hi folks,

I am Polish therefore had no problem in contacting that chap and getting it after 2 weeks in London. Anyway...
After a dozens of attempts ended with failure I dropped this device into a cupboard. I like the idea but somehow it doesnt go through my dream even with the strongest settings. Number of alarms goes between 25-30. Then as it often triggers on between REM cycles ( just move a bit and the damage is done ) it wakes me up. For some time I lost my patience and switched into Lucid Dreamer pills with almost instant lucid. Unfortunately I couldn't repead it but there is much space for adjustment and improvement.
Recently as I lost patience also for pills I looked back at REM Dreamer. This time I decided to take more serious and scientific approach. Firstly usig a comp and microphone I made a record of my REM cycles. It was 1 night so far and I had kind of insomniac experience so finally went to bed at 2.36. Next day when I read the sound outcome it turned out that during 8 hours of sleep I had only 3 REM cycles after 2,5,6 hours and about 30min each. I am going to continue this research to find out about my individual REM pattern.

While working on that I realised that now with ease I can turn into life an idea that I had some time ago. Adding to REM Dreamer a verbal communicate like: "This is a dream and everything around you is your creation. If you don't believe think what's your name and how did you get here?" It could be heard on earplug phones and with a proper volume it might be a powerful tool.
I am going to assemly it soon and will give you some report.

If anybody is interested in making the same REM Rig here are some details:
      You need:
      - REM Dreamer
      - computer
      - audio trigger software like "Audio Zone Trigger" - it responds to a sound via microphone or line in and turns on any appl. or audio file
      - earplug phones
      - soldering device, wires, jack plugs

Find a speaker in REM Dreamer. Connect ( solder) independly its - and + to microphone or line in ( more safe ) input of your comp.
Set REM D. signal to only quiet short sound.
Record a verbal communicate on your comp.
Set the software properly - input audio line, noise threshold, audio file etc.
Set REM d. time, put it on, put on earplug phones and DREAM ON!

The latest version of the REM-Dreamer has TWC (two-way communication) where you can send signals back to the REM-Dreamer (once you are lucid) to stop sending you any more ques so that you can get on with your lucid dream without it waking you up.
If you already have a RD then you can send it back to him for an upgrade so it has this feature.

Also, you mention recording your own voice to say something like "I am dreaming." Well there is now the REM-Dreamer Pro that does just that Take a look on the website and you'll see all the details.

I thought I'd mention these two things to you because they are both things that you'd mentioned here in your post.

I got both the REM-Dreamer and REM-Dreamer Pro arrive in the post today so I'll let you know how I get on

Thanx Enlightement for great news and removing the dust from this thread Referring to my previous post after assembling the rig I couldn't use it. Simply couldn't get asleep with all these machinery on my head, working comp and too much heated room. I know, that's pathetic. After a few days I turned to medical suplements with much greater and easier result.
As for my REM pattern records I managed to do 3 then. Each one is completely different from others however although bed time ranges from 0.30 to 2.30 always around 5.00 there was a REM cycle. Also from 5.00 to 6.00 they were the longest. Maybe it will be helpful for others...
Your post reminded me about my forgotten little machine and will play with it soon If the spoken instructions work I may upgrade it to the current one...
